Dead or Alive 5 Last Round PC port missing soft engine, PS4 effects: http://www.incgamers.com/2015/03/dead-or-alive-5-last-round-pc-port-missing-soft-engine-ps4-effects

edit: C&P:

So, the bad parts: no ‘soft engine’ (the thing that’s supposed to make the fighter’s skins look softer,) PS3 quality particle effects, no extra stages (“Danger Zone” (Lana?) and “The Crimson” won’t be present.)

The alright news: shadows are said to be PS4 quality, 4K resolution support is mentioned.

Basically, it sounds like another Tecmo ‘hybrid’ port, like the last couple of Dynasty Warriors games they’ve brought to PC. A mixture of PS3 and PS4 bits.

Here are the recommended specs:

OS: Windows Vista / 7/8 / 8.1 (32bit / 64bit).
CPU: Core i7 2600 or more.
Memory: More than 4GB.
HD: 10.0GB or more of free space.
GPU: VRAM1.5GB more, more DirecX9.0c.

The suggested GPUs are all Nvidia ones: GeForce GTX 760, GeForce GTX 660, GeForce GTX 750 Ti.

The PC version of this is indeed a weird hybrid that manages to simultaneously be better, as good and worse than the PS4/X1 versions.

Hopefully fans can raise enough hell that they patch in the missing features(at the very least the two stages) along with the online functionality that they'll add in later.

Cancelled my Steam pre-order and will be getting the PS4 version for free with my stockpiled amazon gift card credit that I've received from Bing Rewards and for less than full price to boot.

DLC often goes on sale with the games on Steam. Still fucking crazy, especially because those packs were seperated into much smaller pieces on console.

Now that modding scene has taken off, is there a pirated version yet? Fuck them if they think I'm paying them for this port

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Started with the version 1.02 which is the out-of-the-steam one anyway. Apparently the 1.0 was so bad they had to put some patches to fix issues. To be honest, it's still bad port.

- The game is really CPU hungry, and even when you have a good GPU you will rely on it. What is more horrifying, it's there are trouble with processors with more than 2 cores (I have old Athlon X64) you probably have to "kill" some of them if you want to play with no stuttering. The game uses almost 100 % of the first core, while the second sits almost idle ! I can't find the thread now, but it was legit. It's more of a straight arcade emulation, a very low invenstment from Tecmo.

- Almost non-exisiting graphical settings. You can do everything in it by changing DOA5LR.ini file:

SCREEN_TYPE=FULL
RESOLUTION=1280x720
SHADOW=DISABLE
SHADOW_RESOLUTION=1024x1024
ANTI_ALIAS=0

I had to turn off shadows and AA due to the framerate problems. I can blame my old PC, but people have that issues too. If the processor is to slow, DOA changes through 30 and 60 fps and when is the latter one, it feels great. But then, Bam, it's a slowdown. Something like that is not acceptable in the fighting game. I think that giving a boost from graphic card could do wonders and would get rid of the problem. These are PS3 level of detail, and it's not like there is much to render. Japanese cannot into porting, again.

- No 16:9 higher resolutions available, even when you edit .ini file

- You want a custom keyboard settings, change something with the joystick ? Well tough luck, I had to use AutoHotkey Script to change it. Yep, something that basic is missing. Thanks Team Ninja!

Here is the default setting:

qrrdtYM.jpg

:lol:

- No special effects

- There are some custom filters like SweetFX for better looking graphics, but frankly it looks like shit and gives me a headache just by looking at it. It's your choice.

- Apparently there are some stages missing

- No Soft engine, but the default "physics" feels very nice too.

- Some textures look like from a PS2 era title

- Nude mods for Ed69 - http://www.loverslab.com/topic/45864-doa5lr-holdens-mods/

- The 'free' version from Reloaded/3DM has these DLC's included:

352150 DOA5LR Pre-purchase Reward Set (DEAD OR ALIVE® 5 Last Round - Pre-purchase Reward Set)
358140 DOA5LR Fun Theme Set (DOA5LR DLC1249 Fun Theme Set)
358141 DOA5LR Halloween + Debut Costume Set (DOA5LR DLC1250 Halloween Debut Costume Set)

3DM China guys made another upload with some new DLC stuff, don't know what's in it, but I've read that's not all of them yet (One is missing, and apparently they are having some kind of DLC test in the steam database, it could be another one).

It's still a solid combat game, diffrent than Virtua Fighter or Tekken, and the rooster had a good variety of characters:

I've found a save with all unlocked content though. I use the japanese voices with english subtitles for maximum kawaii effect.

DOA 5 UR on PC :

arcade = no story - no soft engine - less particles - 720p textures.
last gen = story - no soft engine - less particles - 720p textures.
this gen = sotry with new character select screen - soft engine - more particles - two new stages - 720p textures, upscaled to 1080p.
PC = story with new character select screen - no soft engine - less particles - 720p textures can upscale them to 4k.

Why they couldn't just port PS4 version with some new options for PC master faprace ? It will remain a mystery.

Some pics to fap in silence after reading this post with tears in your eyes.

They didn't port it because Arcade version was already working on a very PC-like machine. Since it's the fist DOA on the PC they've probably wanted to check if anyone is actually interested. God only knows why for these Japanese people "checking if anyone is interested" means "putting in no effort into porting". Perhaps they want to copy Capcom, which after doing some legitimately terrible PC ports (RE4) finally started giving a shit.

So this game's pretty fun. Never played any games from this series before since I haven't owned a console in 15 years or something, but I really like Tekken and Soul Calibur and play with my friends sometimes on emulators and this is almost exactly like Tekken, except derpier cause you can kick someone from a cliff SPARTA style and watch them drop 5 stories and then hop right back up like nothing fucking happened.

Really a shame the port sucks (not being able to rebind the controls is beyond stupid, it's like jap developers have never picked up a mouse and keyboard in their lives and program games by typing 01010101 using their fucking gamepads), but at least the game runs perfectly on a kinda shitty PC whereas MK X runs like a PowerPoint presentation on lowest settings. The funny thing is that there are a huge amount of negative reviews on steam basically saying that the game is good but the port blows so don't buy until shit is fixed but I bet instead of learning from this the devs will be all like: "dude look at these shitty reviews, I knew porting on PC was a mistake, let's not ever do it again", which is a shame cause I like fighting games, but don't want any consoles.

Also, question: are there any recent-ish fighting games on the PC apart from this and MKX (or anything that can be reasonably emulated) you guys can recommend?

If you want to play fighting games on the PC just buy a pad already. You can probably get one cheaper than what you've paid for DoA 5,

I might get the PC version down the line if the online is implemented well and I can get it fairly cheap during a sale. I've played the PS4 version a bunch and it was hella fun online.

I have a shitty usb gamepad but I actually think it's more comfortable to play on the keyboard :M

It looks like they finally added online to the pc version when my game patched today. I couldn't find anyone to fight (unsurprising, since this update didn't seem to get any fanfare...). Though I'll probably try later during prime time and see if anyone is about.
