What's more surprising is that they're going all in on Battlefield, when they keep fucking up with every release. That's some next level commitment to retardation. This entire industry needs a hard reset.

There was a dream? The Dead Space games are genuinely good 8/10s or whatever, but don't have me watering at the mouth for more. System Shock 2, classic Resident Evil, and Resident Evil 4 were better games, among others. Dead Space offers fairly solid action, atmosphere, immersion, and the space walks are amazing. But it needed more musical presence, more varied enemy design, more layers of gameplay (e.g less linear, more inventory management and demanding puzzles) to truly transcend to god tier. The art direction/scenario/level design is also pretty good but needed an approximate 20% reduction in copy-paste corridors in favor of...anything else. One last criticism: the game is retardedly monochrome. Should've been called Brown Space. This is not at all realistic, and holds back the game's otherwise visual splendor. Like the Resident Evil remake.

As-is it cannot transcend to absolute masterpiece. It's just a solid action shooter immersive roller-coaster ride. Something to be treasured nonetheless but it could have been more.

EA Shoots Down Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors: 'No Validity to This Story'

Sources say Dead Space 2 remake was never considered by EA Motive.

EA has denied reports that a Dead Space 2 remake was in development before being canceled, with a spokesperson telling IGN, "We don't normally comment on rumors but there is no validity to this story."

EA's comments follow reports from Jeff Grubb, who claimed that EA Motive was working on concepts for Dead Space 2, but that it was ultimately shelved due to lackluster sales of the previous release. However, IGN understands that EA Motive never considered a Dead Space 2 remake.

EA hasn't reported the Dead Space remake's official sales, but it was the best-selling new game in the U.S. in January 2023. A source tells IGN that the Dead Space remake was ultimately considered to have done well.

Yesterday, EA announced that Motive is forming a new team led by Dead Space Remake developers Roman Campos-Oriola and Phillipe Ducharme to "support single-player and multiplayer objectives for Battlefield Universe." Motive also insisted that Iron Man "remains an important priority" and that development is going well.

The Dead Space Remake was released in early 2023, earning strong reviews for its visual fidelity and its creative expansion of the original game. It raised hopes that EA would continue with a remake of Dead Space 2, which is well-regarded by fans, but for now Motive seems fully-focused on Battlefield and Iron Man.

Neither Connected Battlefield Universe nor Iron Man currently have a release date. You can read about all the rest of 2024's biggest games right here.

Best news I heard in a long time. Fuck remakes!

Dead Space 2 is a great game much much better than the first, so glad it doesn't have to get violated now.

The only good Dead Space game is Dead Space. Everything after has been shit.
All 3 are the same third person shooter. Only the first is actually scary because you don't know what you're fighting against.
But you do know how to kill them though, it's written on every wall in every room since you enter the station.
And every enemy drops ammo and medkits so the survival aspect is lol at best.
All 3 games are zombie shooters with jump scares. Only DS2 when you revisit Ishimura the atmosphere and tension are palpable.

Counterpoint DS2 was a boring ass action shooter that started the CoDification that was fully realized in DS3. DS felt like a decent horror game. DS2 was a cinematic action game.

First DS is easily one of the best actual games from the PS3/X360 "gaming is dead" era and, despite being nowhere near SS1-2 level obviously, a better SS-like experience than most games lauded as such.

Dead Space was a poor man's horror game, with very simplistic writing, poor level design and an atmosphere that turns into tedium and boredom due to repetition.

Dead Space 2 is a great action game which is actually fun to fucking play. With tense moments highlighting the action. DS2 is the best parts of RE4, the combat. DS2 on hard is genuinely a great action horror game with great enemy design and weapons.

Dead Space 1 and 2 aren't even that different, not sure how somebody can like one but hate the other. Both are solid action games in my book and neither is good at horror.

Literally play 2 YouTube videos side by side of DS2 and DS3 playthroughs. Same amount of action and shooting. DS was never survival, just a third person action game with jump scares here and there. The lore was more interesting.
DS3 hate is simply irrational. I agree the love triangle part of the story needs to go however. And the gameplay needs a lot of polishing. Otherwise it's fine.

All. The. Same. Shooty shooty bang bang. Fun shooty shooty bang bang though. Lore was great. And a fitting ending.

The weapon system and encounter design in 3 were a downgrade. Writing was retarded but that's not a change from previous games, except they didn't have teenage drama love triangle shit so I guess it was a bit less obviously bad there.

For me it was DS2 > DS1 > DS3
DS2 had more mechanics, more hallucinations and better combat. The final boss was pretty shit though and the characters were somehow more retarded than they were in DS1. The overall game-play was probably the best in the franchise and at least tried to properly blend decent combat with survival horror elements.
DS1 felt more clunky and the "scares" tended to just be jump scares. There were some mind fuck moments but they were pretty subtle. Even on hard you got way too many resources after the first chapter, so it didn't really scratch the survival horror itch.
DS3 thought it was resident evil 6 and was a big dumb loud shooter with a co-op part that one one wanted.

Not really, in DS2 you just fought necromorphs and it had a RE style combat system (except you can actually walk and aim instead of staying in place like a damned civilian, to paraphrase Blair Witch Vol. 1). In DS3 you fought enemies with guns so you had to hug cover. They turned DS3 into yet another cover shooter.

The natural, logical continuation from DS2 when you were about to be gunned down by government military when you break into that sector on Titan Station and walk down that corridor to get up to release all the necros inside. And with the weapon system in 3 you don't have to take cover. Build a good weapon and you're set. The enemies were bullet sponges though. But not on impossible difficulty weirdly enough.
