I think that Kingmaker has had better discounts than Deadfire, on top of being a more faithful representation of tabletop RPG.

For example, you can grab Kingmaker now (basic edition) for around 15 bucks at Fanatical. That's a great price. Meanwhile Deadfire is around the double of that at the same store.

Overall both games are heavily laden with DLC so they fall under the bane of modern games. In that sense, Age of Decadence and Underrail were truer.

Both games have awful, terrible aesthetics and companion choices. Those who liked the games, fine, just don't kid yourself that Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale or heck, even Neverwinter Night's choppy 3d graphics were less well-placed.
