it was way too moody and dark.
Quite the contrary, the ridiculousness of the settings after Act 1 prevents anyone from thinking it's too moody or dark. It was Super Mario Bros: Diablo Edition.

To be fair, I think Blizzard did a overall good job with the Starcraft Remaster. They botched some of the unit portraits and couldn‘t resist to change how the Protoss look in a few loading screens to make them more similar to anime Protoss in SC2, but all in all it’s a faithful and well done remaster. The new graphics are nice to look at why remaining very true to the original.

Of course they had a few million fanatical Koreans watching them closely and making sure the gameplay is not changed by one inch, so there is that. This is why maybe, it’s one of the few video game remasters that’s not a complete failure.

Here's what I meant when I said they ought to follow Keith Parkinson.

Not Diablo 4 Levels of Dark Realism and not Diablo 3 Levels of Exaggerated Pauldroncore. Just that right level of Classic Fantasy Gleam.

Considering the rumor is naming a dev studio and this is picking up steam, if the dev studio doesn't outright deny it, it's pretty much confirmed.

It's inhouse studio, the game has 2D and framerate peculiarities, and if the SC:BW remaster demonstrates something it's the lack of grey matter to deal with said peculiarities. So it's a run of the mill re-release at best.

I liked the second act, and the hell one was nice too. Fuck that jungle shit, and the expansion was kinda of anti-climatic too. Doing Bhaal runs definitely didn't have the same level of swag doing Diablo runs had.

  • Given the negative reception of Reforged, Ressurected is not being handled by Blizzard's internal remaster team but instead being developed by Vicarious Visions
  • Vicarious Visions is known for remasters of PS1 classics such as Tony Hawk Pro Skater and Crash Bandicoot
  • The report comes from the French site Actugamer which predicted the announcements for Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV
  • Diablo II: Resurrected sounds like the kind of name they’d pick
  • If true, this remaster would be released between Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4 which makes sense
  • Jason Schreier said he expected to see a remaster of Diablo II at Blizzcon and that the reveal might have been delayed
  • This year marks the 20th anniversary of Diablo II

Sounds like it's happening.

White paladin instead of jogger? :incline::d1p::hype:

But nah, won't buy. Original still works fine, and they'll probably cock something up, either graphics or mechanics, (probably both). I'll just play the AUTHORITATIVE version instead.

The original had a pretty brutal difficulty

Wat? I only played Crash Bandicoot Warped (3rd game of the series IIRC), and it was just challenging enough to be interesting, not a "dark souls of platformers". Is the first game really that hardcore or it's just game journos being game journos?

These are the words from the video, not mine. Never played Crash Bandicoot because I never owned a console and haven't tried it in an emulator yet, but this kind of phrasing sounds very suspicious.

Not very confidence-inducing.

How on earth can someone consider the Crash Bandicoot games as having brutal difficulty?! I played them when I was a kid, together with my friends who were also kids of course at the time, and they're pretty casual (and very fun).

It's true that some levels were hard, but nothing a kid with some determination can't win.

If they are indeed making a remaster/remake, they need to include some form of endgame. Were endless Baal runs fun for anyone ever?

They did and it is pure trash.

From top of my head I wish for:
-1080p with crisp UI and more enemies on screen
-optional altered sprites, some animations like Paladin jog is just pure meme-content but looks ugly otherwise
-additional mode with higher drop-rates so people have a chance to actually drop Ist-Zod without botting
-able to jump on normal/nightmare rooms after reaching hell mode
-personal loot so no one snatches best items from Baal
-higher stash space shared across characters
-ladder runewords available everywhere
-diablo clone event occurence less dependent on RNG
-no limits on cow-level or lower drop-rates so it remains as an easter-egg not a farming location
-some way to make superior and better item-versions stand out from regular white-text gear

I think they should also remove global chat and replace rooms with matchmaking and introduce some trading limits to get rid of trade-bots and china-spammers for ladder characters. Non-ladder should be whatever.

Path of Diablo exists. A remaster by Blizzard will be shit and/or cringe.
