Emotions ranging from sadness to disbelief
BG2 stirred up disbelief in me quite a bit. "I can't believe that they managed to make every option in this fucking dialogue lead right back to the same fucking place." "I can't believe that they actually expect me to do all of these tedious fucking sidequests." "I can't belive I'm still playing this fucking game."

The Longest Journey deserves mention, yet again. The ending was just so strange I couldn't cry, but I did have this feeling of emptiness and depression.
I have to mention here that I felt similarly after completing Dreamfall, which, while being painfully consolized in some respects, was still a memorable game I'll certainly replay some time.

I felt depressed at dreamfall more from the game itself than the story sadly.

Might have helped if it weren't just a bunch of stealth puzzles linked together. April's uh, fate shocks me to this day though.

I cried in Arcanum, while talking with a guard in Tarant, when I gave him a certain letter (I don't remember the details, those who played it probably know about it) and I cried while talking with a retired army man of some sorts in Black Root (again, I don't remember the details). I cried in KotOR due to extensive and exaggerated LARPing (yeah, really... the fucking game can only be enjoyed that way, and only if you role-play yourself...). I cried in the ending of Sword of Mana (GBA, not the original, of course) when I played with the chick, because I was said
such a cute ass was turned into a freaking tree...

I cried in Diablo when my hardcore level 79 barbarian died... I cried in Need for Speed Underground when I finally won that 6 lap endurance race after a 16 hour maraton trying to do it (FUCKING STUPID GAME!!!). I cried in Oblivion... for my lost 50€ (I did cry because I could have bought a few decent games instead). I cried in Crimson Skies because I had a grain in my eye for some odd reason. That's all. Aries is a bitch and I hate Aerie because she's a bitch too. I always kick her ass with my all mighty Super Two Handed Sword +36126545621564

Ending of LoK:Defiance was also bitter in a moving way. I never gave a shit about that blue mofo, but his final moments and Kain's lonesome realization delivered. Too bad that you have to endure a game's length of uninspired repeated shit to witness such fine and few moments.

Also, Shadow of the Colossus delivers (exceptionally well, considering how minimalistic the plot is) in creating emotional bonds between the player and the game. The game does a perfect job of gradually forming connections, only to rip them apart afterwards. The fact that you could actually control Wander through the ending sequence was particularly immersive.

What in the blue fuck? That sounds like a weird game. I'll have to try it out sometime.

LARPing should not be done in game if you have a weak mind or are easily sucked into things. Side effects may include Asperger's Syndrome, writing shitty fanfiction (well....in reality fan fiction is shit), or chronic masturbation. If you LARP for more than four hours see a doctor immediately. LARPing does prevent sexually transmitted diseases, though....

Trees don't say no.....

I cried in Diablo when my hardcore level 79 barbarian died...

Was it due to the machinations of a level 91 PK asshole perchance?

I cried in Need for Speed Underground when I finally won that 6 lap endurance race after a 16 hour maraton trying to do it (FUCKING STUPID GAME!!!).

Sixteen' hours? Sixteen motherfucking hours? That is determination. :salute:

I cried in Oblivion... for my lost 50€ (I did cry because I could have bought a few decent games instead).

Don't cry....don't weep....don't get angsty....get even! Coming this fall.....a new wind will blow....a new legion will rise....and no amount of soil erosion will stop them!

I cried in Crimson Skies because I had a grain in my eye for some odd reason.

Grain? Like hops?

That's all.

Or is it? Dun dun duh...

Aries is a bitch

Yes he is. Amon Ra, Anubis, Baal, and the Emperor are all much better at waging bloody war across space and time.

and I hate Aerie because she's a bitch too.

I thought you had to be a man to get the "whiny bitch!!!" tag? Maybe she could get the "Crybaby" or "Whiny Cunt" tag?

I always kick her ass with my all mighty Super Two Handed Sword +36126545621564

You need to clean me....I like to shine!

I part of my inner game designer died when a certain game arbitrarily killed my heal bot and wouldn't let me use a Phoenix Down to rez her.

Also, Shadows of the Colossus is emo as fuck, and the main character runs like a girl.

[edit] Lastly, Bioware demonstrate again why the should not be working with an interactive medium.

LARPing is a well defined and properly shunned practice that has nothing to do with playing a single player CRPG alone in your mom's basement. Why do either of you feel compelled to muddy the waters by spewing your ignorance across the internet?

I loved The Longest Journey and Dreamfall. Of course, the poignancy of the storylines were probably magnified because I was already sliding into a debilitating depressive episode (the endings did not help). In any case, I was so hooked that I managed to finish both games within a week.

Based on our industry's increasing ability to emotionally connect with our fans, we fully expect that video games will establish themselves as a true art form.

Games are already establishing themselves as an art form instead of pure entertainment, and in no way is this related to Bioware. Funny thing is that i am almost sure they do believe themselves part of this change after bringing to life characters and storylines as deep as "The serpent people is taking over fairy world" and "Save the galaxy from evil space nazis."

It is funny in a what-were-they-thinking way that they side with the "Art = Emotional Involvement" idiocy emo-fucks use as an excuse for their almost metaphorical intelectual qualities. Feeling is the intellect of monkeys, and thus does not follow to use it as an example for "Something that leads into introspective intelectual analisis and questioning," a very valid definition of Art. More than theirs, at least.

Actually, and on a flame baiting tangent, i am unable to understand why it seems some Codex guys are actually riding that stupid "Art is that wich i can emotionally connect to" definition, or at least not disputing it as a valid one. Maybe i would understand such idiocy among Bio-Fans, given they do not know better and can't identify true art even if it is ass raping them, but the locals? After so much "The Codex is smart and different" publicity, it is kind of sad.

So in actuality it was for like loosing a good friend (like in a good book or movie) and that hits you emotionally.

If you are comparing those good books or movies of you with a Final Fantasy game then it goes without saying that such mentioned quality is there for me to question, and so i do. Actually, since you are going further and comparing them to Aeris' death, in wich some idiotic guy fell from impossible heights to impale her with an oversized katana just so the crowd of misguided pop-japan-philes would say "So Cool! So Sad!" then i have to question either your taste or sanity.

Of course, it goes without saying that if the following comment is true in your case then i can forgive you and become interested in wich books and movies have you been indulging into lately. Please, share the wisdom. xD

I don't know about you, but the death of Aries evoked an emotional response in me. Sexual arousal counts as an emotion, doesn't it?

But they did put too little pain in her expression as to make it a boner, and fell short a couple of sweet, naive dying tears too. With modern animation technology it would be eden. Change the katana for an oversized meathook to make it a rapture, thousand year kingdom, and heavenly paradise all-in-one lifetime offer.

Add bondage with piano wires and they have an RPG i could play regardless of it being Art or not.

At last an educated opinion that manages to answer, maybe without intention, most comments on this thread.

Doing your best to earn your name, I see. At least you believe in truth-in-advertising.

I felt like shit every time the past "me" was brought up in PST. The "cruel, calculating logical" past me. I felt like such an ass hole.

Dak'Kon "Yeah I'm basically your slave for eternity. Oh yeah don't feel bad or anything though..."

Me "Uh....shit."

No game brings out emotions in me like football manager series, damn it, I can't stand losing one single game. I get fucking furious.

Otherwise I can't come up with a single game that really given me any emotions except anger and frustration. and I have actually shed tears to some movie.
