The Codex is an anomaly in that it venerates the past.
the codex doesn't venerate the past, what it venerates is quality, interesting ideas, and good gameplay. if it seems like we hate most modern games it's because we've seen the systems they use implemented better and don't like the idea of games becoming more and more like movies with less and less gameplay.

That is effect, not cause. People play the shit out of good games and naturally want more in the same style.

They (we) are supposed to get (non-signed) boxes, yeah. As long as your donation (or the one in your name) is at least $100. We don't know all the details on shipment etc. yet though; Angthoron's doing his best to take care of that.

Cool, can you remind me where to go to see what was donated?

Man, I don't remember contributing THAT much (I think that's when Temaperacl and I kept donating to each others pledge levels). Did I get an Imp? Regardless, I'll be giving the digital copies away as I also pledged enough for a physical box on the KS. :smug:

I was going to buy the steam special but it still says Early Access...I guess that tag will be removed sometimes tomorrow or today?
Should I hold it so I get the correct version or what?

I know it isn't out yet, but when I check the steam store page it doesn't say early access anywhere

Oh, didn't see it.
But that aside, what i meant was that, if you buy it, you'll have early access now and the full game when it releases

Steam Early Access codes will expire on release

Everybody who backed us on Kickstarter received a Steam Early Access code. We promised however that you'll be able to select which platform you want to receive your digital download on, so on the day of release, the Kickstarter Early Access codes will stop working and you'll need to log in to the Larian Vault to select which platform you want to play on. You will then get a new code.

If you purchased the game on Steam Early Access, don't worry, your codes will keep on working. This message only applies to the Steam Early Access codes that were given away to our backers.

There would be incredible server load at release, and they would collapse few times. Prepare your chips for watching the shitstorm on forums.

"Incredible"? The game only has 20,000 backers, and I don't remember there being problems when they gave out the original alpha key.

Have they send all original alpha keys in a single day? 20000 means 20000 accesses in first 15 minutes.

I'm hoping that, by the time kickstarter stops being a thing, publishers will get that crpgs are still something the gaming community wants

They know that already, but they don realy care : "Our" group is to small, the profit not worth the effort.

This is one of those games that slipped under my radar until very recently. I have to say I am really looking forward to playing it.

if I bought the game now on steam and played about 10 hours worth is it likely that new content or changes are going to be introduced between now and release? I don't want to replay it again, but on the other hand I really want to play this game and there is a sale going on...I play games very slowly, so its not likely I would get very far into the game if I got it now. Does anybody know how much more is likely to be changed or put into the game between now and release date?

Also, people who have played the game, how are you liking it?

TIA

Saves aren't compatible between the Early Access version and release, so you'd have to replay those 10 hours anyway. Also a lot of stuff is still to be added.

The solution is simple: buy it now while it's on sale, play it once it's released (and patched up a bit).

at the very least personalities for party members and player chars. chances are your saves will be incompatible with release version/0 or 1 day patch as well. buy it now, play it after personality patch.

it's surprisingly good, though it does have a few issues.

ah, right that is a good solution, not sure why I did not think of that.... probably because I was trying to find a reason/excuse to play it early... but I have waited this long so I think I will wait to actually play it until later (but buy it now).. don't like playing early release games very much.

This and Pillars might be the two games I am waiting for most, with wasteland and age of decadence a close second. Its been a long time since I have felt this way about any RPG release probably icewind dale II or ToEE and now there will be four in a very short time. I just wish one could have been released these last couple of months since I had all the time in the world which is now ending, but oh well..

So, some important stuff from Larian regarding claiming your rewards in Wave 1:

Divinity: Original Sin is going to release on June 30th and that means we’re getting ready for fulfilling all rewards. If you haven’t done so already, we’d like to ask you to fill in your account details on the Larian Vault by Tuesday, June 24.

Important information about your rewards

If you’re entitled to physical rewards, you need to fill in the physical address to which you’d like us to ship your rewards.

For those of you who had a T-shirt in their tier, you can now choose size and gender on the Larian Vault.

For everybody who’s ordered a physical edition of the game - Standard or Collector’s - you may choose to receive a non-Steam DVD INSTEAD of a DVD which requires you to use Steam to play the game.

We’ll only print these DVD’s once the game has gone live (as we’re still working on it) meaning that we’ll only be able to send these DVD’s a few weeks after release.

For the avoidance of doubt, choosing the non-Steam DVD option doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to play the game on release, as all backers with physical goods in their tiers will receive a digital download code on the digital platform of their choice (Either Steam or GOG).

Please be aware that the Steam version is the version that currently has the best support for multiplayer, and is also the version that will be updated the quickest.

So, for those that haven't sent me any account info yet - when sending me your requests, please check if you can set up sizes etc on the site directly. If not, I guess you have to tell me whether you're XS or XXS in a PM as well as the type of a disk that you want if you plan to get physical.

And yeah - I will be sending out the list latest on Tuesday, and more likely some time late afternoon/evening/night Monday so they have time to fill in all the info to your accounts and ship stuff out. So, hurry up. If you don't make it by the evening (EU evening) of Monday, you'll likely be getting Wave 2 physicals.
