Team Spirit looks strong as fuck. Illidan, Funn1k, Alwayswannafly and Goblak.

Predictable EG meltdown, Fear is a great player but I think this might be when he retires. Don't think he has it in him to build a new team.

Secret kinda sidegraded from Misery to Universe, grabbing rtz makes no sense - even though I think he's a better player than w33, I don't think the team synergy is there.

Nodiggity is an interesting new team, but since synderen is on it it will probably never win anything - I like the guy and think his commentating is great, but he's a mediocre player. Era is a very solid carry player and Khezzu is a solid offlaner who recently came from Hon. Qojqva is also good and played with synderen before.

On the China side of things, new LGD and EHOME look solid. Whether they do well or not depends on the next balance patch.

rtz has plenty of synergy with puppey, EE, universe. This is pretty much an "rtzs best friends" team now. rtz left secret because he couldn't stand kuroky. Now that kuroky is gone, he wants back in.

all the hyped Chinese teams just got dumpstered by tier 2 teams and academy teams in the ESL Manila qualifiers.

so Wings just tore every """tier 1""" chinese team a new asshole and knocked them all out of the ESL manila qualifiers.

Screenshot from 2016-03-24 12:21:26.png

New LGD (shou8, aggresssif, mmy, september, maybe) got dumpstered in the first round by VG:R (Fy, ZYF and three new players), and then got dumpstered again by CDEC:Y (Inflame and 4 others)

New VG (Burning, CTY, Return Of the Throw King, and 2 new supports) lost to Wings, and then again to their own academy team, VG:R

IG:Vitality (Yuno, InJuly, super (not the potato face VG one) and two others) exceeded expectations, and lost to VG:R in the losers finals.

It can safely be said that every chinese team is tier 2 except for EHOME. Starting to look a lot like NAdota...

By all accounts Dota 2 is a dead game in Korea with terrible support (first by Nexon, now passed over to Valve itself), no local servers, etc. I don't think MVP will usher in a new era of Korean teams at all.

Team Secret and EHOME didn't even make it to the semifinals, and Wings took the grand finals vs Liquid 3-0, bringing in Venomancer, KOTL+PL and BH back into fashion.

Fantastic. I'm excited to see all the veteran teams get clowned on by new talent.

Crazy patch, can't wait to see how the meta plays out. A lot of buffs given to defensive play makes me nervous though, it could be a boring meta.

Invites for the major should be coming out very soon, too.

I wrote this down because you guys probably won’t see my name showing on the upcoming tournament. In nearly 8 years of my professional gaming career, I’m a low-key style of person and I don’t judge too quickly but this has been bother me for a few days. Therefore, I should write this to calm myself down. As you can see, after the Shanghai major tournament we had some discussion as Mushi decided to take a break from gaming for asthma treatment even though we do not know when he will be back but the team strongly believed that he will be back to the team soon.

The first thing when we get back to Malaysia, we had a discussion about player to replace Mushi which is Xnova and we felt this is a good way to solve the problem because Xnova will be the support role and I’ll play as carry role for temporary. But surprisingly, Xnova is still helping his own team for the qualifier of Epic center tournament which caused conflict to our following schedule, so he does not appear in our team. Soon, our manager contacted 343 to join the team and 343 also decide for ban/pick for the following games. We were glad that we played well and won a few important matches after having 343 to join the team.

After that, ESL Manila Lan event is the first lan tournament without a team captain. We planned to go Philippine in advance to get use to the foods, weather, mood and the environment so we could get a better performance for the tournament just like what we did for the Shanghai major tournament our team traveled to china 2 weeks in advance for training, where I’m extremely grateful to have Kenchi yap as our coach because he helped us a lot of things whether is about the game or personal. We’re very lucky that managed to win 2 game in ESL manila group matches, but unfortunately we lose to Team wings and the whole team is not happy with the result of this trip. In the evening, we had dinner in hotel and discuss for future plan, the first thing I asked is Mushi coming back for the next game then he said this is not the right time to discuss about this topic.

The next day morning, I, Ohy, 343, MidOne travel back to Malaysia to get some rest and prepare for the next game but Dj and our manager will stay in Philippine to deal with some problems. Mushi went to some island in Philippine for vacation. 28 April, everyone returned to own position. 29 April I thought it would be another normal day but actually it turned out to be the beginning of my nightmare, this day the 6 people of my team (including manager) went out from bootcamp to schedule of tournament and the team lineup but I was in the dark about this. In the evening, Mushi, Ohy and manager asked me go upstairs to discuss something, I thought is about the team lineup and schedule for next tournament but it is not. The first thing that Mushi said is he decided to come back to play for the next game and then he asked me change to bench player, I couldn’t give any reaction at that moment as I’m so emotionally shocked and confused. However, I’m so helpless when I heard the reason of the decision. After they told me this, the only voice that keeps repeating in my mind was “this decision is made by the team and you have to be considerate and understand.” However, I don’t even have a chance to disagree or discuss with the decision they made but only get an apologize (I’m sorry) from the manager.

I’ve put my 90% of efforts and 90% of my time to this team but in at end I only get the sad and cruel ending. I believed that there is no player in the world willing to become a bench player and watching the game. Last year, because of personal issue I did not have the chance to play for TI and only can watch and listen to what others people talk about the game. This year, I guess I’ll have to disappoint everyone again as this is a fact that I couldn’t change no matter how hard I try and how many effort I made. Maybe, I never know that a team must be in such a way to get more success and victories.

The final thing I want to say is, I’m deeply sorry to everyone and this seem to be the end of my journey. Thank you for supporting me all the time. Last but not least i wish them good luck in their future.

Valve really needs to put the foot down and stop this whole roster lock bullshit, or change it so subs are ACTUALLY SUBS that can swap between series. Fnatic may not have broken valve rules, but the rules need to change to stop this bullshit from happening again.

I'm more pissed about the 12 invited teams and 1 qualifier winner per region. What the fuck? Nobody asked for this.

its funny how every team you listed as promising crashed and burned in the qualifiers. this season is really wacky. nobody expected Wings to be a direct invite, or LGD to be so mediocre.

Only team that actually deserved a direct invite was Team Liquid, every single other team on that list was a shaky invite in my book. Major roster changes (Secret, EG), inconsistent/mediocre results at best (OG, Alliance, Navi, complexity, fnatic) a single LAN win with very little else to show for (Wings, Vici, MVP) or nothing at all (LGD). MVP took a second LAN after the invites went out and were one of the stronger and consistent teams on that list already. I would've preferred 6 direct invites (Liquid, Secret, EG, MVP, Newbee, Vici.R), with 2 qualifier slots for NA/SEA and 3 for EU/CN regions, simply because there was very little reason to directly invite any of the other teams that eventually got one. Time restraints probably forced them to do what they did, I still don't get why they invited any of the chinese teams over Newbee, their hot streak started months ago.

DC will probably outperform both EG and complexity, fnatic will crumble after dropping net (who was the best support in the SEA region for over half a decade and still is one of the best in the world), empire will choke like they always do on LAN and 4 out of the 6 top teams will be asian (it would've been 5/6 but fnatic dropped the ball) :M

Secret shlonged by Alliance. Not even universe could save them.

seems like the classic superteam syndrome to me. EE, RTZ, and Universe are all quite 'greedy' compared to w33 and misery, who got results even with awful farm. Every time they beat the enemy it felt more like it was because of incredible individual skill than synergy. Universe might have to tone down to fit the team (worked when he was on EG because fear, ppd and aui were conservative)

whole secret situation reminds me of 2014 DK

2014 DK at least won a lot before crashing and burning, Secret has just been getting stomped. Universe playing like complete crap compared to his performances on EG...

how would you fix them?

RTC drafted more dynamic mids like puck, invoker, TA, qop. stop drafting shit like DK and razor. let EE do those

Universe drafted his usual psuedocores like void, enigma, clock, but also practice more on more traditional low farm laning offlaners.

PLD has to be even more of a ward bitch to compensate

puppan might be forced to adjust because universe and puppey hero pools and playstyle overlap. Makes picking Chen and ench difficult when universe is being a farm vacuum.

EE: keep doing EE shit
RTZ: play farm independent mids
Universe: keep doing what he did in EG, keeping in mind to make space for rtz (a job that used to be done by ppd/aui)
puppey: stop drafting stupid shit
PLD: nothing. already doing his best.

Lobotomize RTZ so he can actually play more than farming mids like SF/TA that only work when they are significantly outfarming their opponent. That's what TI5 was all about, and that's why people like RTZ and sumail were hailed as great mid players, when in truth they are really mediocre. The farming mids were already dying out while TI was going on, the only saving grace were insane amounts of jungle stacks which they often had to rely on becasue they got dumpstered on mid by actually good midplayers (rtz usually did well in the 1v1 at least, sumail on the other hand even lost mismatches that were in his favour). Just watching rtz, s4 or sumail play these tanky cores like Alch, DK or DP is hilarious because they seem to have no 'feeling' as to how far they can push these hero without overextending and dying in a matter of seconds because they underestimated the amount of damage they take when their opponents are actually fighting back. Those were all non-issues when they were twoshotting people out of invis/after blinking with SF/TA, when you were euls-comboing people with Lina/SF or just zipped in and were literally unkillable as long as you had mana on Storm. Thankfully these time are over, its a shame that little shitter won a million bucks off of it. Storm is like his signature hero and he doesn't even know to skill him properly for fucks sake.
What surprises me most about secret is how well Envy and how shit Universe are playing. Also not sure why puppey is drafting all those defensive heroes for pld, he clearly can't play them. Give him his lion, thats the only hero he's really good at, or something like a disruptor or rubick, those are hard to fuck up.

Alliance could've probably beaten newbee if s4 wouldn't have gotten a goddamn veil on his DP as a first item while running brown boots and 800hp against a lion/gyro. Newbee isn't even that great, their drafts are usually pretty bad but they still win thanks to their insane coordination, communication and most of all because kaka is a god. Ban Lion so chuan has to play another hero - thats what OG did - because he sucks on every single one of them. Get phoenix versus their tanky tri-core and don't waste your sunray on a creepwave, thats where Fly dropped the ball multiple times in their matchup vs Newbee and it almost cost them the series.

It's actually kind of hilarious to see how three of the most well-known supports, ppd, pld and chuan, have been pretty mediocre gameplay-wise on so many heroes while they were pretty great when they played lion. The hero usually has a modicum of farm thanks to occassionally getting a kill thanks to finger and having at least a blink and force already enables them to do so much more than what they achieve on. Weirdly enough ppd doesn't even manage to get farm on lion anymore with his sub 100gpm performances the last couple of days. I guess it's mostly due to them avoiding fights more often than actively engaging, in the meantime he usually wanders off into the jungle to ward or something and dies there repeatedly.

Also, please nerf phoenix sunray and farming alch, I almost cried when I saw the 650cs naga 40 minutes in be 14k networth behind an alch. Alch was situational when he had shit lategame scaling, thanks to moonshard/aghanims that has changed a lot so there needs to be something done.

...and EG get's 2-0'd by Complexity.

RTZ has destroyed two teams with one move.
