Phantom Lancer was supposed to come out last week, but Valve flaked because they did crappy UI stuff instead.

They have cut off other heroes who have their stuff half-made to focus on heroes who matter in competitive play (hence last couple heroes being Lycan, Syllabear, and Brewmaster). Its gonna be PL, then in whatever order are Chaos Knight and Ogre Magi.

I got my beta key back in November and the heroes I have been waiting for are Shadow Demon, Gyrocopter, Chaos Knight, and Ogre Magi. God, it's taken forever.

At least all this waiting was totally worth it - game 2 of m5 vs Navi was just ma-a-ad - insane comebacks, black hole on five people leading to 6 kills, then another teamwipe with vacuum+wall+rasta wards, then antimage with divine rapier in a pro game a-a-and... What else do you need, really?

I actually fell asleep at the beginning of the first game. Now I have to wait for the Vods to be uploaded.

Got some matches in. Initial attempt failed horribly and I had to look up some fixes for crashes and shit. After that I played a few games against bots, partly in case it crashed some more and partly to practice a bit and get used to the shop/figure out what I want my keybindings to be and such. 3-0 for games against people though. Haven't had any leavers yet, and the terribads on my team have been balanced by the enemy team as well. Getting used to all the changes from HoN is going to be a pain. Spectre is almost unplayable with that hit animation and the uselessness of dagger. Leshrac casts spells like some sort of cripple. .35 sec stun delay my ass. There's a longer delay than that on the lightning. Shadowfiend too. Razes take so fucking long to cast they're hardly worth it for anything but farming or sniping someone out of range.

Probably going to end up with a new set of favourite heroes. Just had a 14-1 game with Riki. Went top with venge who implied he'd babysit for me then competed for last hits  But we got first blood and stomped on their retarded dual melee lane anyways. Brewmaster + Lifestealer. I mean, it was singledraft, but surely they had better options than THAT.

I need to set my mic up now too. I hate trying to type while playing, and people are too dumb not to give them advice/warnings every 2 minutes.

Oh goodie, getting "advice" from a stranger every 2 mins. I just realized what the average MOBA player is like and the thought of hearing them scream obscenities into their microphones with their teenage voices makes me thankful LoL has yet to implement that.

BRO, I imagined the kind of shit the average LoL pugger types into /all chat yelled by a 13-year old chav. I then went to fetch some aspirin.

Dazzle and Dark Seer are two heroes that, when just reading their abilities on paper, you don't get how good they are. Dazzle honestly needs to solo, though. He is so dependent on skill levels for his abilities to even matter.

DamReg:
Shadow Fiend does have a slightly slow casting animation, but he would be even easier to dominate with if it was instant. As it is, he's one of the most powerful nukers in the game. It doesn't take much practice to hit his razes. Leshrac does have a shitty animation, and again it's part of his balance. To get reliable results he needs to have someone else who stuns first, kind of like Lina, which is one of his drawbacks. He's still one of the most picked heroes in the game competitively, due to how much aoe he puts out (and his ability to hit towers).

Spectre is unplayable because outside of the really late game the hero is kind of shit. I mean, her damage reduction skill makes her kind of retardedly tanky later on, but it just takes so long to get there. You'll probably notice, a lot of the carries in the game actually have pretty horrible base animations and speeds. Clinkz and Drow, for example, try them out and see.

Shadowfiend does have way more rightclick damage than the HoN version too, which makes the razes even less important. It's not so much that hitting them is difficult, it's that consecutively popping off all 3 as someone runs towards/away from you takes way way longer. Especially considering that's when people are most likely to throw out a stun or mini stun at you, giving them extra time to do that is a big deal. Him and Lesh are obviously both still good, viable heroes, but I hate playing something so unresponsive. Sandking's ult is worst of all of course, but you rarely have to use it so I don't mind so much. Razes and lesh's spells get used just to farm, and it bugs me every time I click those buttons. It feels like the game is lagging suddenly.

Part of the problem with spectre's animation is how vague it is. Slow speed is annoying, but manageable if you know when the hit is landing. But spectre just sort of waves her frisbee around slowly and at some point it hits. Sandwraith had this nice distinct dagger swipe that made last hitting pretty easy even with the pisspoor damage. Honestly, may as well play Syllabear instead if you want to farm and then pop out and rape everyone by right clicking. Faster radiance, more damage, more tankiness, more chasing potential. Oh, and you're one of the best pushers in the game. And the jungle will be safer than a bad lane, and nobody fights you for last hits.

HoN's SF kinda compensates by having bigger raze AoE. But HoN doesn't matter because it's so horridly unbalanced in many many ways.

A tip to new Dota SF players : you can cast your Razes faster if you click them twice before casting the next one (e.g. QQ WW etc). Or at least thats how it worked in D1 (havent played SF in D2 enough to have tested this). Also SF is the new flavour of the month pick, I think. He's really strong when you know you won't get pressured too much in early, being probably the fastest farmer in the game bar AM and Morph. Also unlike AM or Morph he can be incredibly threatening with only an early BKB up, making it hard for the enemy to teamfight and force them to give up early towers.

Also Sylla never jungles in above beginner-level games, I mean why would you put an incredibly dominant laner into a jungle... (Even on a hard lane, he can pull the creepwave with his bear from behind the enemy tower, thus denying the enemy their "pulls"). - transition into the jungle usually happens later

Same reason you'd put any good jungler into the jungle- more total farm. And since he can carry the shit out of a game unlike something like a jungled enigma, you can put asshole solo/double support/gank lanes out to fuck over the enemy lane trying to babysit AM. There's a decent number of heroes that would be better off as a solo lane than as a duo with syllabear.

Definitely circumstantial in a proper game though. But if you're already going to win a lane with something like a solo Tinker, no point in throwing in Syllabear and leaving the jungle empty. Better off with slightly less farm on Sylla and a fatass Tinker with some shit worth rearming.

This isn't true, his razes are very important and for most of the early and mid game are the biggest source of his damage. I don't know how HoN works, but I think you're getting put off by minor differences. His nukes do so much damage, way more than his right click early on, and much faster. I don't know where you got the idea that his right click does more.
Also SF is the new flavour of the month pick
Honestly SF has never been bad. He's one of those heroes like Mirana or Chen who just never goes away and has been a good pick for years now. As everyone says, he's basically kind of gankable early on which is his main weakness. If you can stop him from being ganked for the first 6 or 7 levels , or are playing a pub where you probably just won't ever get ganked, SF can dominate so hard. I think if you are good at the game, there are very few heroes who can let you roflstomp a pub as much as SF.

Didn't know you could cast them faster by double tapping the spell. I think HoN auto cancelled whatever you were doing if you tried to move or cast another spell. Maybe that would change my opinion.

And I know his razes are OP early game when everyone has like <1000 HP. I meant later on when you're 16 and have 200+ on your rightclick with your aura maxed on top of that. Especially if you're trying to chase someone down, right clicks are way better than casting your razes and then being 1100 range away from the fucker with 12 hp. In HoN I could fire off all 3 razes in the time it takes to attack once, so it was still really useful even at the endgame.

Just played a game as Tiny. Never managed to have a decent game with him in HoN or dota 1, but this was pretty sweet. Went 14-3 solo top vs a Lich/Sniper lane. Stun feels so much easier to land than it was in HoN. I'm probably imagining that though. Might be another new favourite, I really like his model, most of the models/character concepts in DotA put me off. Voice isn't terrible either. Also, arcane boots make him imba. I should try some more heroes I used to get arcane ring on. Boots are so much better.

Whats with the rating system? I keep getting ~2.1 for everyone I play. Am I supposed to finish the match in 10 minutes with 6 rapiers to get a high rating? Or is it just broken?
