I love BG1 as much as the next guy; but to say that outside of nostalgia that it holds up to modern BIo games in terms of story telling, writing, or characters is silly. I mean the character are basically perosnality traits and nothing else with no backstory, motivation, or story to say. And, the C&C is minimal at best outside of combat decisions.

The overall story archs are fine though they are predictable.. but, then, *shrug* 'Twists are overrated.
Of course, because the only way for a plot to be unpredictable is for there to be a huge plot twist. I'm just going to stop reading books without plot twists now, because I already know their endings!

HOW MANY BOOKS HAVE YOU READ WHERE THE ENDING IS DEFINED BY THE LAST TWO CHAPTERS? JUST LIKE IT IS IN BIOWARE GAMES? WHAT'S WRONG MANGOOSE, YOU'RE TOO ASHAMED TO ANSWER? BIOWARE PLOTS CHICKENS BETTER THAN A 3000PAGES FAGGY SAGA, BETTER THAN BOOKS, ROFLLOL.

ROOFLES!!!

Triangles, triangles everywhere. Is that the art motif? Angles and spikes?

Yeah, I've finally watched the video. It simply confirmed what I'd expected: That I won't give a flying fuck about Dragon Effect.

Seriously, that video was a prime example of why Bio (and most of the gaming industry sucks). "Here, you can either just jump in and click the enemies to death, since they don't pose any threat. Or you can play tactically with pausing and issuing orders that take advantage of positioning and special attacks, which is completely unneccessary since enemies don't pose any threat but at least you'll feel like a Spartan general."
Why not show combat in cut-scenes and reduce the tedium? Why not go all the way and make an interactive movie that's not weighed down by tedious, boring, challengeless combat?

"Yeah, meanwhile Bioware hasn't improved shit ever since BGII, they are still publishing the same stuff. What's your point?"

Stop lying.

The writing is better. The C&C is better. The characters are better. The endings are better.

No it's not. Nothing is better. The tactical gameplay has been simplified or removed altogether. BG2's story (fighting for your soul) is considerably more original than all the "save the world" shit from ass effect, dragon age and jade empire. Don't even get me started on the characters. They've been trying to replicate the success of BG1 and 2 in that regard for ages and failing miserably. They've managed to produce a handful of entertaining characters (HK47, canderous, black whirlwind) but for the most part it's been shitty metropolitan US faggots in space/ancient china ripoff/halo ripoff worlds. Bioware's been riding the barbed cock of simplicity since neverwinter nights and riding it hard.

New story trailer, story spoilers:

Oh, and a interesting one in that video:

Virginal girl next door, when showing Meril the Keeper of the DAO Dalish Origin.

One has to wonder why the sex driven marketing, and how old the target audience for a M rated game is?

At some point there is a mouse pointer moving so this is the PC version.

This trailer actually made me interested. If they'll manage to do what they describe it really can be an epic game. As far as story goes of course. The long timespan gives numerous possibilities to writers. Interesting fact is that Bioware must have liked Alpha Protocole or rather it's narrating style.

You mean Aerie?

Crazy up-against-the-wall,let's-have-it-on-right-here

You mean Virconia?

(Even if everyone can qualify of the "let's-have-it-on-right-here" department as those conversation could trigger in the oddest of places).

Nice seeing BG2 have set the bar they STILL have not crossed.

I am seriously considering trolling Bioware by applying to my countries retarded classification system which might see parts of this game altered. That is, if it does not get past our retarded MA15 rating.

Wikiderpia said:
There is no R18+ or X18+ rating for video games, meaning that any game that exceeds the MA15+ classification would be automatically Refused Classification and banned. In the past, computer games faced tougher guidelines than their film counterparts. Nudity of any description was not allowed, nor was sexual activity.

The Grand Theft Auto series has caused controversy in Australia. In 2002, Grand Theft Auto III was withdrawn from sale for allowing players to have sexual intercourse with virtual prostitutes; the game was later reinstated when this action was removed. Specifically, the player could solicit intercourse from a virtual prostitute, and then kill her. The ability to solicit sex from prostitutes in the game was the action that was removed, but the player could still violently murder them. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was also pre-censored for the same reasons. Though, in 2010 Vice City was classified uncut again receiving a MA15+.[14]

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was withdrawn from sale in July 2005 following the revelation that sex scenes were included in the content files on the game's disc; one could not ordinarily access these scenes, but a third party modification, known as the Hot Coffee mod, allowed the player to access these scenes within the game itself, and the inclusion of the scenes on the game disc took the game outside the MA15+ category. The MA15+ rating was re-instated after a modified version was released worldwide by Rockstar Games, removing the content files for the sex scenes.

Grand Theft Auto IV has also prompted editing in the Australian (PAL) version as Rockstar was worried it might get a RC rating. In the American release, sexual encounters with prostitutes occur inside the player's vehicle and the player has the ability to rotate the camera for a clearer view of what transpires. In the censored Australian version, the camera is fixed behind the vehicle, which rocks from side to side with accompanying audio effects. It is impossible for the player to view the inside of the car.[15] Rockstar lated decided to rate the uncut version of the game which went on to receive a MA15+ and a patch was late released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 to uncensor the game.

The Attorney generals meet in March for another round of time wasting, when is Dragon Effect due out? I did not play the originals for fear of popamole tardation, if someone can give a quick rundown of how the game plays, or a LP.

Just for reference, More wikiderpia YAY

while it may be a stretch to get it banned or altered, it sure will troll a great many biowhores if there is a chance their beloved dating sim/interactive soft porn is jeapordised. Ahhh, that capacity of my governments retarded system being abused to troll a company making a retarded game is priceless.

Eh? Whats wrong with you sir? BG1 had very little in these departments and their subsequent games sure had more. Volly is entirerly correct on this one.
