DLC announced before the game even comes out? I do hope that it will come included with the pirate bay edition of the game.

I rather liked Zaeed's mission for not being that: all he wanted was a motherfucker dead, over the bodies of anyone standing in the way.

This. Did DA:O have this shit?
Yes

When did gamers bend over and accept this kind of rubbish?
A long time ago. It has gotten more visible over time, but many companies have always done whatever they could get away with to get money from customers.

I'm not harping on short, lack-of-content DLCs; it's this purchasable DLC on release date kind of shit it's like going on a date and paying for everything and THEN paying for the sex as well. zZzzZ.
:x

I actually don't get the complaints over this one - The way I look at is a bonus for the Special Edition. If you didn't get the Special edition, pony up $7 to get this portion of it. If you don't, then you miss out on some minor story. It is better than "This is only available for the Special Edition. You want it? Shell out for another (more expensive) copy of the game. And no, you can't return your regular edition for a discount". As long as it (A) Isn't important to the game and (B) Isn't advertised in game, then I don't see any problem. Then again, I have no intention of getting it so I have no reason to care about it that much.

This is why I hate DLC, the concept of selling additional content using digital distribution is in it self not bad. However how pretty much every single company sells grossly over prized products that are often blatantly ripped from the original product and then re sold separately for additional cost is just bad. Really it is not the companies fault since their objective is profit after all but the sheeple who buy that shit, they are the ones responsible for the decline. (I'm looking at you Codexers who purchased all the ME DLC)

Pity that noone in Bioware cared to write few dialogue lines for him.
And i think they even wanted money for that DLC from people who bought ME2 second hand.

Why the anger with release day DLC?

Is it a retarded marketing strategy? Check.
Does it bring more money to the company? Check.
Are there going to be at least 500.000 retarded fanboys to fall for it? Check.
Is it preposterously overpriced? Check.

From bio's p.o.v., it's just perfect.

Is there a solution to it? Demonoid.

I laughed when they said it had been designed around the controller. Probably the single biggest reason why DA:O wasn't crap was because it had intended to be PC-only for all those long years in development. The consoles were getting Jade Empire and Mass Effect, we were meant to get DA:O.

A 7$ day one DLC? Pfff, that's not the point.

Meanwhile on Bioware forums...
If he isn't a romancable, can a developer PLEASE just tellus then? They told us about Aveline and Varric weren't romancables when the offical four were announced. But all they told us with Sebastian was 'wait and see'. GAH! THE TORTURE! *Dies*
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but... does this mean Sebastian is a romance? I mean... short stories were only released for LIs, so...?
Bioware already dealt a ton of fangirl rage when they gave us no LIs in Awakening. Do they really want to weather the storm that will fall if Seb isn't an LI?
Hah. Sebastian reminds me of a classic Jane Austen hunk. You may be able to romance the boy, but no hanky pank is ever implied. Hell, the final scene is a kiss. That's all you get.

I am very curious about this prince now.
Goddammit!

It's not the no sex scene that bothers me, I honestly can live without it, but the idea of "no consummation at all" is annoying to me. Hopefully we'll get an epilogue or something. Cause again, how is he supposed to reclaim the throne if he can't have any heirs?
Nobody's ever broken a promise before? I think the Chantry vows just make the possibility of romance that much more exciting. He's forbidden fruit, ripe for temptation.
It sounds to me, though I've not actually read the article to avoid spoilers, that he's not a LI per se but more of a heavy flirt option.

If he's taken vows and is a priest even a relationship outside friendship would be breaking his vows, he'd be dedicated to the chantry, so a real relationship would be out of the question. If however, he wants to rule then he'd be forsaking the chantry so would any vow really apply?

I guess it remains to be seen on the 10th (sob yes I live in Aus and have to wait an extra two days :( ). But it seems a very odd romance option - no sex in the game is fine, but setting up a relationship that is really going nowhere sounds more like a glorified flirt option to me.
So many questions, so many concerns. Will Bioware deliver with this DLC?

There are millions of retards in general falling for such schemes. They are the force that allows such outrageous and retarded shit become industry standard and they keep declining my fucking gaming!
:x

Is there a solution to it?
Yes. The final one.

Why does all companions need to have some tragic background, why not just make a merc who had a nice childhood and simply wanted to earn bunch of cash and fame.

PST had companions with tragic background and it was one of those parts that made the game great. However it wasn't corny as Biowares companions. It all depends on how its done. Tragic but well done background can make a game much better imo. While a merc for money doesn't make it interesting.

Personally I'm waiting for DA3, it will have awesome super epic cut scenes™ (game not included). Game play will be available as DLC for a affordable price of 25$ per hours worth of content.

Companies that rely on DLC to make their games profitable are doomed to collapse in a few years anyway when people get fed up with paying $150 for a complete game and stop paying for them.

Are you sure? I'd rather say they will continue to profit 3 times better than non-dlc games

If the buyers don't run out of stupid first, at least they'll eventually run out of money.

As modern gamers get older they'll start to realize they're wasting money on DLC games and slowly stop paying for them. As this happens companies will increase the cost of games and DLC to compensate for lost revenue. The increased costs will raise the barrier of entry for new gamers and cause existing gamers to quit paying even faster. Eventually the industry will hit critical mass and we'll have another great crash. Expect it within the next five years or so.

As modern gamers get older, they'll get more and more jaded, eventually getting to the point where they make long rants about "the good old days" and how current gaming doesn't hold a candle to "classics" like dragon age and oblivion

The decline OF the decline

Expect it within the next five years or so

Kill yourself before then and save yourself some pain
