There should be a shitstorm over this. At the least, this is a deceptive practice. EA should be above board on what consumers are purchasing. They don't have to hand over detailed security info so hackers can copy the software easier, they just have to be honest on what is included in a software purchase. By not including any reference, and by placing the burden on the consumer to delve into what is going on, they breed a hell of a lot of mistrust.

Also, if this program was installed on a finanacial or government computer, it could loosely be considered a violation of the Patriot Act (the provision of: Intentionally accessing without authorization a government computer and affecting the use of the government's operation of the computer) so EA should watch themselves. Fuckers.
