This is exactly why Alistair is one of my least favourite characters in Origins. Part of me finds it hard to understand why not only Gaider but everyone else who wrote Alistair thought it was a good idea, but I seem to be in the minority for hating him so maybe I'm the one who's wrong.

Alistair is well-written if you discount his dumb jokes. Girl gamers liked him because he's one of the rare male and romanceable BioWare companions who are normal and not whiny like Anomen and Carth. He will not hesitate to give you a dressing-down if you commit evil deeds like sacrificing Isolde.

Alistair's biggest problem is that he is an immature manchild. He believes the Wardens are some sort of cool secret organisation that he is part of, but abandons its principles the second he doesn't get his way. In the middle of a fucking war we are losing.
