Meh. I always took that little scene to be a comedic acknowledgement of different species focusing on different features, in a species that resembles all of them. With the human more primed for faces and curves, the turian for ridges and markings, the salarian presumably for skin color/texture and social position... It's a neat little display of their differing perceptions, and the way they drunkenly, hornily spin from there into "mind control!" when it's just their own psychology is the humor of it.

No, the entire thing was started by a conversation between three drunk NPCs. The implication that Asari manipulate how people see them is easily falsifiable: there's signs with asaris on them in-game, and they look exactly the same as regular asari.
