I have a 4 fighter+1 high+1 druid+1 sun mage level7 party now.
Everybody knows low magic.
Do I need high/druid/sun magic skill for my fighters ?
Or I'd rather improve their fighter skills?
Unfortunately I have already sold some magic scroll :(
Thx for your replies.

Magic skills are much better than fighting skills in this game. However, you can make it through with just two mages.

If you make another mage, make it a sun mage. Inferno is probably the best combat spell in the end game if you have the points in Sun Magic to invest in it.

If you made a druid from scratch, you can make another character a druid (for free) by casting Beast Call at the druid shrine in the Mystic Forest by Phoebus and beating Enkidu with a strong character.

Ah, but he has to find the Beastcall spell first. Half the fun right there.

Ah, but there is a Beast Horn with Beast Call charges on the altar where you summon Enkidu. ;)

I should replay Bards Tale1. It was a great game.
But this Dragon Wars. Meh. It has a ton useless skills. You level up - get 2 AP - you can increase your HP by 1 ( one!). Where is the satisfying character advancement?
Or am I getting old?
Combat is so mind-numbingly repetitive typing, it is unbelievable.
1 round = QCCMACCMACCMACCMACLCMACHF6ACSCS6AY

a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type any given text, including the complete works of William Shakespeare.

That's the only thing I think is unfair. Using all these skills is a delight for people who like this sort of things, my favourite one actually (because the other games, notably later Interplay games, yes Fallout, are not games where you get to create your party). It's overwhelming and it's good that it is, I definitely never used some of the lore skills but they get to unlock something somewhere, sometimes mandatory but sometimes pretty much not like it's optional or there are several options (probably never as many as you're given choices to leave the prison yet some anyway), you just have to actively use the skills which is good, better than automatic stat checks at least in the case of this game. I don't mind at all that some skills are only used once or twice during a 30 hour campaign, that's fine. These skills are the main reason to play the game compared to another so if you think they suck it sure is not for you, I think it's good as a smash things and getter stronger game but that part I don't think it does specially better than other games either. I prefer the dungeons of Dragon Wars with only unique points of interest where you get to use utility skills compared with the ones of The Bard's Tale with spinners and teleporters.

Character progression is definitely a lot via items, most satisfying part being finding the next damage spell, that's what generally makes some zones go from hard to easy to your party. I love everything about it because I like low numbers, I like finding spells and don't mind equipment being so important, I like creating a party which is not made of total beginners, etc . but it's also totally fine if you don't.

I also love the open world structure compared to the dungeons in order of The Bard's Tale by the way but you don't have to either.

It doesn't sound like a game for you, which is fine.
