I'd have to go back to DD2 to refresh my memory, but aren't you guys essentially talking about the same thing? The video you posted is from the end of the game after the sea is gone and all the shit under there with the brine is now exposed to run around in.
No. He's saying Gran Soren is located in the blue on the volcanic island, I'm saying Gran Soren and Rathais are located together, in the red at the sea floor shrine.

Oh I see. No, I think you're right. Gran Soren is under the ocean and isn't visible until the endgame.

Capcom is not going to announce any DLC before Monster Hunter Wilds releases, it seems.

They could at least release a Hard Mode in the meantime.

the way DD2 has been managed as been nothing short of disgraceful
even among the other colossal fuck-ups of this year alone
it is both disappointing and impressive

but these last few months, imo the morst damaging thing is the complete radio silence
not even a "Hey with this last update we're done working on the game. Move the fuck on to Wilds now please!"

and yeah the whole "casual mode" update, will never not be just the most bizarre decision...

From a DD2 modder:
They are still 100% working on something big, because the patches contain changes to the format of the assets, breaking many mods, specially anything PAK, all of those broke, they wouldn't do any of that if they were winding down the game (why would you setup this if you wont use it?), also there have been almost daily activity on the test branches of the game, visible in SteamDB, again, why would they work so much in these branches if they wont do anything major? what are they building up to? clearly they are building up to something. In my opinion, they will announce a DLC AFTER Monster Hunter Wilds, not before that. I know this because I've been trying to mod this game and stopped until they finish patching because is getting ridiculous the amount of fixing we need to do with every update.

Does he mean the patches they have released so far when talking about "changes to format of the assets"? Because most patches they've released had to do with optimization and that sounds like something you do when you want to optimize the game.

I think so yes
Basically the last few patches that started to come out in September made drastic changes to both the structure and content of the game files
This broke all PAK mods - which was the majority of them (I'll have to update the DD2 mod thread)

Casual mode is just another way of pushing 'accessibility features' so the game can potentially snag more awards and funding. All whilst the company pats itself on the back and points to such a move during investor meetings.

Pretty much every official post I see on social media relating to the game has a whole bunch of replies asking for more enemy variety, an equivalent to Bitterblack Isle and a higher difficulty mode. I so rarely see people asking for the game's difficulty to be lowered.

The language barrier doesn't help. Many Japanese games are already notorious for ignoring customer feedback but the problem is made even worse by hiring subversives who never pass along any meaningful feedback.

Some info modders found out, on why the player can output so much damage against bosses:
Random stuff I found while testing for a mod.

Minotaurs and Dullahan gain an extra 3x damage received after getting perfect deflected\Vengeful Slash. The window for that 3x can be quite small.

However, when it comes to Minotaur, if they still have horns and you hit the horns in the middle of their charge attack, you get a 25x native multiplier, for slash and strike weapons (sorry archers)

This can result in some insane damage, and in vanilla, it can often lead to a OHKO.
Exhibit: Warrior's Tidal Wrath OHKOing a Minotaur.

f9pr5y.webp

You can combine both conditions, with Fighter's 3x bonus after perfect deflect, and the 25x mult during the minotaur's charge attack, resulting in guaranteed OHKO damage

This is with CDT settings that gave Minotaur at least 250% more HP, against a lvl 30 fighter pawn, and she was able to OHKO from full health by meeting these two criterias lo

Some cool mechanics but damage so insanely high it almost feels like a bug.
