Shit game for retards.
I liked it just as much as the first two. It has some SJ themes (although they get a bit subverted at times) but the atmosphere, soundtrack and most of the writing is great.Fan of both Dreamfall and The Longest Journey (especially tlj). what is codex consensus on chapters?

December Dreamfall update (and Draugen)
A quick note on top: we still send updates to all backers, though most of you have already received your rewards. If you don't want to get any more Kickstarter emails, you can unsubscribe by clicking the link at the bottom. And if you want to continue receiving news from Red Thread about future projects — like Draugen (see below) — you can sign up for our newsletter: https://www.redthreadgames.com/newsletter
Still here? If so: welcome to another much-anticipated update, as we continue to crawl, ever-so-slowly, towards the finishing line.
Most frequently asked question first: yes, we are still working on the special edition Dreamfall Chapters boxes — and yes, that work is progressing.
In our last update, we mentioned that the Tome of the Balance has grown immensely, both in scope and quality, and it’s now in its final editing stages (all 300+ pages of it). Here's another in-progress preview:
Given previous experiences, we hesitate to provide an exact timeline for printing and shipping. As soon as the printers start rolling, however, we’ll let affected backers know. At that point, we'll also need to re-confirm shipping addresses, because it’s been a while and people move. (A long while, possibly multiple moves.)
For those of you who keep asking: unfortunately, no, we will not be selling the Tome separately. We're really sorry about that, but it could be unfair to backers who have waited so long, and it would also be a logistical nightmare. We're just not equipped to sell physical goods at this point.
In other Red Thread news: a few weeks ago we (re-)announced our upcoming game, Draugen — a first-person Fjord Noir mystery set in 1920s Norway — with a teaser trailer. You can watch that trailer on YouTube and you can learn more about Draugen on our website. If you like what you see, please consider wish-listing the game on Steam or on GOG.com. It helps us a ton, and you get to stay informed about the release date — which is some time in 2019.
Draugen wouldn't exist without Dreamfall Chapters, and Dreamfall wouldn't exist without you folks. So thanks again for your support: we really, really appreciate it.

A Tome of the Balance mini-update
Posted by Red Thread Games (Creator)
It is finally here.
The Tome of the Balance arrived in our office earlier this week, and we excitedly posted a brief video to our Twitter account. Look at it! It’s pretty! The Tome, not the video. Or the hands.
(If the video embed doesn’t show up for you, click this link: https://vimeo.com/334981874)
As usual, our production estimates were (to put it mildly) on the optimistic side, and the whole process took several months longer than expected and projected — partly because (for quality reasons) we decided to work with a smaller local printer, partly because we’re just slow — but we hope it’s worth the wait.
While the books are ready to go out, we’re still waiting on the special edition boxes, postcards, maps and other physical goods. They are hitting the (same, fantastic) printers shortly, and we expect to begin shipping to our remaining backers in June.
As always, treat our estimates with some light skepticism, simply because there are a lot of moving parts and we are few, and we don’t have a ton of experience with this, and we keep missing our targets. We’re doing our best, and while that may not be good enough for all of you, we won’t be abandoning any of you. We’re seeing this through, even if it takes another five years (it definitely won’t).
Also: we have not forgotten about the Wonkers USB keys. The design was set late last year, we’ve been in discussions with production partners, and we hope for an update soon.
We’ll be back with more when there’s more to tell, which, hopefully, won’t be long. In the meantime, and in our limited spare time, we’ll be curling up on our couches with the Tome of the Balance and enjoying the stories, the artwork, the comics and the lore. It’s so good, you guys!
Thanks for reading!
Overall it's a good video and worth watching but some of you might take issue with this part around 26 minutes (especially the first two bullet points).
What was the motivation of Brian Westhouse as a main villain to destroy the magic? To return home? But he literally gave up everything to land in the magic world in the very beginning. "Home, sweet home" is a silly explanation for the genocide of the whole world.
Who the fuck was Saga? Besides being a deus ex machina that saves everyone we don't have a coherent narrative of what she is. Who were her parents? Where all this power came from?
How crow can be dead and not dead at the same time? We clearly see him dying from the hands of Brian Westhouse, he goes with the April to the afterlife...and yet, here he is, in the House Of All Worlds with old Saga, the bird is also old. Is Saga able to resurrect things? Why didn't she resurrected April Ryan in the first place?
How in the world the concept of two physical beings of Zoe in the same world (plus one in the Marcuria = three Zoes at once!) doesn't break everything in the universe? This just makes no sense.
I can go on forever, but why.
It actually is that bad and worse.not _that_ bad actually
tbh, Chapters features some extremely lazy writing (critical spoiler alert):
tbh, Chapters features some extremely lazy writing (critical spoiler alert):
It's been too long since I played it but isn't Saga reincarnated April?
Saga is a deus ex machina.
Em...no? There wasn't any mention of it anywhere. How this supposed to work even in this fantastic world? Saga is 35 yo when appears before the game final, and April died just a couple of years before Dreamfall: Chapters events.
And it's not like she, being supernatural, grows in some different way or speed from humans: we see Saga as a toddler, as a teenage girl and as an old woman. So nothing of this makes sense unless she is a time traveler which wasn't specified anywhere (this is a game about travel between worlds, not between times!).
Edit: no, it doesn't make sense even if Saga is a time traveller from the future. Jeez.
Yeah, Saga is April reborn. Why she's named Lady Alvane in the first game, however, is never explained.
Wasn't April daughter of the white dragon of TLJ who dies but is reincarnated directly into that hot chick in Dreamfall (who calls April her sister)? That hot chick is then subsequently killed off with zero consequences apparently.
Then in Chapters Saga is supposed to be April reborn. Saga's mother is some chick with green hair. This chick is the white dragon too?
