It's set in the AoD world so no magic.
I feel this is going to outsell AOD by a good amount
Cause it's dirt cheap, I guess.Really? Why?

It sounds fantastic as AoD first birthday from final release is coming very soon.AoD managed to stand out in the crowd, which is why it sold 60k copies
There are plenty of combat-focused RPG and many of them are dirt cheap.
We didn't make DR to earn more money (that's a bonus). We couldn't start working on the CSG right away (without a year of pre-production, it would have been a wasted year full of trial and error), so we had time to make a quick game and gain some hands-on experience with party-based combat. It's better to experiment with a small scale game.60k sounds like a great success actually, much more than you had expected IIRC. Is there a certain point where you'd consider Dungeon Rats financially "redundant", so to speak?
Knights of the Chalice, Blackguards 1&2, Telepath Tactics, Legends of Eisenwald, King's Bounty, The Banner Saga 1&2, Voidspire Tactics, etc. Wait for the next sale and you can buy them at 50-75% off. There are plenty of combat-focused RPG and many of them are dirt cheap.
Any examples aside from Spider Web games, Shadowrun games and Divinity OS?

Not just practice and not just combat, but the code, features like the sequence bar with status indicators, the CHA-based setup (works well so far, smaller parties have higher skills, bigger parties have more manpower, seems to be well-balanced), group healing and repair, scripts that check other characters' abilities, plus all the feedback we'll get. Our programmer spent 8 months on all the party-related work, which means we just gained 8 months of programming work to spend on something else when we start working on the CSG.So is this to practice implementing party combat too?
