After some weeks playing, decided to play DDO again.

In the The Lost Thread

I did the quest multiple times already. I would say that there is like 1/3 of chance of in the exactly end room, nothing happening and I unable to fight the boss. Usually waiting a eternity before killing him can solve such problems but is not always sure. This time, I did the quest on elite. Nothing happened. Did again on hard and :

Got the same bug twice.

I lost all desire to play DDO after this... I will be back in few days.

never had any problems in it. maybe it's another new fuck up. they are closing broken quests left and right lately.

Looked in wiki

"Possible bug: killing the first group of slaves in the final fight too quickly (such as with an AoE insta-kill ability) may result in the boss never emerging from behind his magical barrier, and the quest becoming incompletable. Allowing enough time for the second set of slaves to emerge seems to avoid this problem.

So yes, found the problem. I always start encounters using Dragon's Breath + Maximized Empowered Freezing sphere.

oh, it's pretty common in various quests. DON'T delete encounters before objective to delete it appears. same as killing bosses before enetering boss room.
didn't happen to melee, because, well, you need to enter boss room, but old inquisitive with hunt's end could just delete some bosses with good crit roll and get stuck. like killing reaver in magma must flow before triggering his fight can lead to barrier not being removed. or killing final boss in another eveningstar quest from outside the room.

Huh, interesting. I play melee so didn't know this was a thing either.

Jumping stuff and platform stuff is my favourite, but I play as a monk so the feeling you get when you manage to figure out a way to break the platform puzzle is nice.

Cormyr Arrives on Wednesday, October 23rd!

Servers come back, maybe 10 minutes later

UPDATE: Cormyr is being brought down while we troubleshoot a technical issue. We will keep you updated.

:kingcomrade:

Cormyr is a VIP access server.
Looks like currently everyone some non-VIPs can access it ? Let's see how long that stays.

really dislike what they did to inquisitive. leveling to 12 was already pretty miserable and now with even slower attack speed it's completely killed that niche "slap inquisitive on top and get this annoying past life in class you don't want to play or carry failed build to 20". i'm playing as fighter so there is no feat tax for me but i don't even want to think how this shit plays without every single pew-pew feat picked.

and no - doubleshot is not valid compensation. in low and mid heroics you already overkill everything that moves and you need to kill hordes of enemies game throws on you in every single room faster, not overkill individual weak enemies in that horde even harder.

i'm glad i didn't opened that free raid box for xbow yet. it's now useless to me.

need some new character for racial lives now. barbarian or paladin probably.

I've played a bit of this game and I think it's potentially an MMO I could enjoy, the storytelling and feel of the game is very cool.

However I absolutely hate the controls. Is there something like a guide to settings that makes the experience less ass? Specifically targeting enemies with single-target spells is annoying the fuck out of me.

Specifically targeting enemies with single-target spells

To target enemies, I just use the "aim" mode. I believe that the default key is "T". About this game, if you are playing in Argo server, join Codexia.

I already joined on the character I made something like a year ago, but I've been meaning to return to the game once I get the time.

reached epic levels. really don't like what they did to inquisitive. it's noticeably slower and feels very sluggish. not enjoying it at all. aoe shot is at least useful in harry questline where all these abishai running in tight groups straight to you or devils spawn at portals and offer nice static target. then sharn comes and it hits you like a truck. no more hordes running to you, instead lots and lots of enemy shooters and casters pew-pew from all sides and all you can do is SLOWLY pew-pew back. and eveningstar is even worse. failed both my usual attack speed checks - prevent any prisoners to escape during lizzurd ambush and kill all 3 woads before they leave. between uses of no holds barred attack speed is just sad.
i heard arti raped even worse.

Me and my buddy are playing on Cormyr right now. We are both playing Warforged articficers, with him being a repeating crossbow/rune arm user and me being the tank focusing on the Renegade Mastermaker tree.

It's been a ton of fun. With the Lantern System and Hardcore Lanterns being optional you get to enjoy the event with perma death being optional. Details below

Lanterns in the Mists

A group of strangers appear from the mists bearing curious magical lanterns....

The Mists of Ravenloft have begun to appear with greater frequency across the planes, and there are reports of mysterious humanoid or snake-like shapes whispering in these mists. Too many are disappearing across Faerun and Eberron, falling prey to these “Mist Stalkers”. There are even rumors of a great serpent seen in the mists. Lantern-bearing strangers calling themselves the Order of the Guardians claim to have a solution to this threat. Are you ready to heed their call?

Get Started:

To start the Lanterns in the Mists event, first enter the mists (labeled "Lanterns in the Mists") located in the Eberron Hall of Heroes. The mists are next to the fountain in the far Western wing. There is also an additional mists entrance outside the exit of the tutorial dungeon in Korthos village.

Go into the mists and play the quest, "The Curse of the Five Fangs." Once you're done, exit the quest, then speak to the NPCs that have appeared next to the mists you used to enter to obtain a lantern. Note that these NPCs will not appear until after you've completed the quest! If you entered the quest through the mists on Korthos Island, you can either use the waypoint that appears inside the quest to exit to the Eberron Hall of Heroes or simply presss Recall to exit out back to Korthos.

There are two NPCs: Zuria Velamont and Barston Gelminedes. Valamont and Gelminedes offer magical Lanterns which slot into your Cosmetic Shield slot and allow you to see Mist Stalkers in any content outside of raids. You must have a Lantern equipped in order to see these enemies! Note that you can take multiple lanterns, but only the one that you currently have equipped will get charged as you play. As you defeat Mist Stalkers your chosen Lantern's Durability will increase. Once full, the Lantern can be turned into a Guardian for various cosmetic rewards which are then granted to your game account!

The Lanterns

There are five regular Lanterns and five Skull Lanterns available to acquire and fill. Regular Lanterns are Bound to Character and can be placed into your Character Bank, but not into your Shared Bank. These Lanterns also cannot be traded, auctioned, or mailed. The five regular Lanterns are:

  • Lantern of the Pledge - Easy to Fill. Reward - Cosmetic Half Cloak of the Order of the Guardian

  • Lantern of the Order - Long to Fill. Only Advances on Reaper Difficulty. Reward - Cosmetic Full Cloak of the Order of the Guardian

  • Lantern of the Shield - Medium length to fill. Reward - Cosmetic Shield of the Order

  • Lantern of the Seeker - Very Long to Fill. Reward - Mist Stalker Sabertooth Mount

  • Lantern of the Keepers - Medium length to fill. Reward - Magical Lantern Cosmetic Pet

The five Skull Lanterns operate the same as the five regular Lanterns above, but Skull Lanterns are destroyed upon character death whether they are equipped or not. Additionally, Skull Lanterns can ONLY be acquired at character level 1. If you play an Iconic you can get one if you forgo training, but your XP will be set to level 1 rank 1. True reincarnating to level 1 works as well. Skull Lanterns cannot be placed into your Character Bank. Turning in a Skull Lantern provides a special "skull badged" version of the above rewards!

While playing, Lanterns have the ability to "Shine the Light" three times per rest. This ability offers a crowd control effect on Mist Stalkers and cures and removes certain Mist Stalker effects. Using this ability may be vital to defeating more difficult Mist Stalkers.

Lanterns in the Mists Notes:

  • The amount of Lantern progress rewarded for killing a Mist Stalker is relative to the quest's difficulty and the type of Mist Stalker that is spawned.

  • No Lantern progress is awarded if the character's level is three above the dungeon's base level.

  • Lanterns may stop progressing if the player character's level does not keep up with the Lantern's power level as it gains Durability. If the player levels the character they will resume progress. You can see what level is required by examining a Lantern.

  • Mist Stalkers only attack if someone in the party has a Lantern equipped.

  • Mist Stalkers typically only attack a player group once per quest.

  • Mist Stalkers may not appear on particularly short quests.

  • Only Lanterns within 45 meters of a defeated Mist Stalker will benefit from the defeat.

  • Some Mist Stalkers have disposable minions that do not count for Lantern rewards, Mist Stalkers always have a title stating Mist Stalker.

  • Lanterns and their progress will persist through all types of reincarnation.

  • Known Issue: Using an offering to Onatar might make your Lantern appear to be repaired briefly (but it's not!)

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need to be a VIP in order to access Cormyr?

Yes, a subscription is required for access.

Do I have access to the expansions and other account-wide purchases I have made?

Yes. Any account-wide purchases that grant content or other things accessible on every game world will be available on Cormyr.

If my subscription ends can I still access Cormyr?

No, but your characters and progress will remain for when you decide to subscribe again.

Can I transfer a character to Cormyr?

No. Character transfers to or from Cormyr are not available.

Can I play on Cormyr and not take part in the Lanterns in the Mists event?

Yes! If you are grouping with other people who have Lanterns equipped then you will face the threat of Mist Stalkers, however.

Can I acquire more than one Lantern from the NPCs?

Yes! However, only one Lantern can be equipped at one time. Please remember that Skull Lanterns are destroyed if your character is ever killed.

If I earn a reward on Cormyr can I get it on a different game world?

Yes, but you need to turn in your completed Lantern on Cormyr first to earn the reward. Once earned, you will be able to speak to the NPCs on the non-Cormyr world to acquire your items. You may need to log out and back into your game account in order for the reward to be reflected on other game worlds.

Is the Lanterns in the Mists event temporary?

Yes, the Lanterns in the Mists event will eventually end and the event no longer be available on Cormyr. This first season does not have a formal end date, although we intend to keep it available through at least the end of 2024. We will announce further timing ahead of the end of the event.

Where do I equip a Lantern?

Once you equip a Lantern it will go into your Cosmetic Shield slot. Make sure to drag the Lantern into one of your hotbar slots so you can activate the "Shine the Light" ability while adventuring!

How do I get a Skull Lantern as an Iconic?

If you play an Iconic you can get one if you forgo training, but your XP will be set to level 1 rank 1. True reincarnating to level 1 works as well.

Are events and bonuses going to be available on Cormyr?

Yes, we intend to offer most festivals, events, and bonuses on Cormyr. There may be some exceptions; initially we will not be offering the Night Revels event for launch even though this event is underway on the other game worlds.

Do you plan to release additional 64 bit servers?

Yes. We will have more information about these worlds in the future. At this time we have no ETA to announce.

Can I continue to play on my previous game world?

Yes! All of our regular game worlds remain available.

Where can I ask questions and talk about Cormyr?

We encourage you to visit us in the Official DDO Discord and in the Cormyr Forum and let us know how things are going!

The amount of people playing on the server, especially over the Weekend was amazing as well. Of course the downside of that is we had tons of lag. But if you have VIP I really recommend checking it out.

I've played both this and Neverwinter. IDK what to say. DDO was better but not enough like WoW. Neverwinter had the edge of a modern game.

Is there a point playing Turbine games? Not up to debate, just asking to find out.

reached 30+ as inquisitive. in the end it's bearable but mostly because i picked action charges from kensei, dreadnaught and equip. 14 uses of nhb usually enough to finish quest.
being able to reach 100% doubleshot as expected don't really compensate slower attack rate. nice to have but without nhb just shooting still feels bad even at cap,

Next time they have a free coupon code for adventure packs you may want to give it a go. There are free quests in the early game you can check out to see if the game is your cup of tea. The new Cormyr server is heavily populated right now but it is VIP only sadly.

Recommend checking new player forums for advice and help..

i really REALLY hate inventory in this game. especially when it's time to reincarnate and empty reincarnation cache.
usually i just create new character and dump everything on him but today i decided to clean up doubles and things i don't need at all and spent five fucking hours trading items between characters. especially nice touch is that half of the items using identical icons, like all ravenloft equip for example.
at least now there is some order present. sorted bank chars by item levels, by sets, even by item type if there is enough items and inventory space.
still 2 chars where i just dropped everything i have no idea what to do with but won't delete because what if i need it in the future.

worst part even despite all that i will be soon forced to buy inventory and bank slots on main character anyway because of all this bound to character shit constantly adding up.

so i've made terrible mistake. revels was still going so i decided to do quick iconic gnome dress-wearer inquisitive for mrr. what could possibly go wrong.
guess what? revels are meh at heroic levels. not even 15>16 after first clear of everything. and being 15 i had to slowly pew-pew 20+ levels undeads for full exp bonus.
and now i'm sitting with bad character i need to bring full way to 30+.
