It's true it's out of control, but what can you do.

Take Square for example, they're still painstakingly working on Versus' CGI-quality assets. How long will they be able to continue this kind of thing?

Ultimately though, consoles friendly to third parties are still where the money is, the other platforms don't offer enough consistent revenue and volume of sales to be viable for bigger studios. People who buy these systems are the ones ready to pay $60 for many games. There's no way that some 99 cents mobile crap is going to provide a living for much of anyone or steal significant mindshare. And people are always going to be primarily attracted toward the biggest productions.

If it's looks like Versus I hope it continues. I love me some CG fests in certain games

Like MG and FF

So the government fucks up: How does that detract from the idea that capitalism rights itself automatically?

Capitalism doesn't create an equilibrium by default. Neither do the market forces, because they're being manipulated by irrational people all the time. There would be only an equilibrium if these forces would get out of the fucking way, which they never did in the first place. With that, I mean both government and the financial industry. It is just so much more apparent now than ever due to spiking oil prices and an ongoing currency war. Expect a total monetary system collapse withing the next few years.

The only science in economics is of behavior (read - Psychology). It is absolutely not a scientific field. Thus any statement about un-regulated free markets is equally ridiculous. There is no proof of any of it actually working, not even in a vacuum.

Speaking of GabeN, lord protector of the PC gaming master race, keeper of the Half-Life and master of high-pressure valves, is Valve actually going to show up at this shit and show something or do they plan on spending the time productively on working on Half-Life 3 coke and hookers?

And politicians are absolutely rational... Most people are teached in public schools, I wonder why they are so irrational?

Because education and upbringing is dominated by women.

...which turns a critically-thinking society into a consumer-dominated fun-house.

Wimminz.
Well, men have successfully removed themselves from the above areas for generations, so we get what we get.

Just woke up. That Sony conference didn't really blow my mind, though I guess it's a bit skewed by the multiplat titles Microsoft paid to be shown on their show. Still getting a PS4 pretty much by default.
Why even get a console?

Well, looks like Sony has already won the console war of this generation. To be honest, as a PC gamer, I don't really give a fuck either way who wins - still, it's hilarious to see how badly Microsoft botched this and all the butthurt that is ensuing. :greatjob:

Problem with Sony first-party games is always an over-reliance on showing goddamn cutscenes with little to no meaningful gameplay.

Alright, they got Killzone, which looks like Battlefield. They got Infamous, where you play some fucking retarded diversity kiddo. They got FF XV, which was one huge gay CG clusterfuck. And then they got The Order, which has a quantum of potential....but zero gameplay being shown, therefor useless.

The only remotely interesting thing that Sony showed was Beyond: Two Souls. But only because I have a very strange affinity to Ellen Page.

Conclusion: Shut the fuck up and give me Dark Souls II. And perhaps Mirror's Edge 2.
