I thought we did establish quite some time ago that if something has combat then it is by default an RPG?
The only true way for a game to be an RPG is after a grueling 12-page discussion on its thread about what an RPG is.

Infinitron IMO this threat title should be changed to 'pre-release thread' to avoid confusion.

Also, this thread's location in GRPG seems questionable. According to the author's words it's a "Lucas Arts Style graphic adventure (...) with turn-based combat".

Beat me to it.
Also you obviously play a role of someone in this game. In short you play someone who has combat - doubly a RPG!

Cleveland Mark Blakemore how does the character creation/development look like? I see the same guy with a hat on the screenshots, so I guess it's a fixed character but can his stats and skills be adjusted before starting or during a playthrough? Does the character development happen via gathering experience and leveling up or simply by collecting better gear?

Will the turn based combat have a grid to move your character in or how does it work?
It's very simple. It was inspired by a simple RPG game I saw once for Unity.

Good guys line up on the left, bad guys on the right. Your players pick their combat orders ... usually 1-3 options like SHOOT, THROW, HEAL and you duke it out until either your leader is killed or the bad guys are.

Your allies don't die, similar to Fallout 3. They just are "knocked unconscious" or "near death" until resuscitated. It's a million times simpler but actually quite good fun. Until you heal them, your party members start future combats at only one hitpoint so you should heal them up as soon as you can.

This game is not intended to be a hardcore RPG. In fact, it is barely an RPG. Rather an adventure game/rpg hybrid.

Collecting better gear and adding team mates. About 10% the complexity of a game like Grimoire.

Only if it has stats that you can level up.

Been told before you have to have character levels as well, lots of people around here wouldn't call The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa an rpg despite it having stats and skills that improve by use in combat.

Plus, it's a game.

100% RPG. Just like System Shock 2 and Star Control 2.

Cleve are you still working on the Post Atomic game? Or did that morph into this?
This will be out first. Have POST-ATOMIC sitting on backup drive. Will pick up where I left off on it.
Recently I read about a writer who kept his unpublished works on a backup drive. The drive died and he lost entire novel. Scott R. R. Bakker was his name.

Perhaps keep your shit in a cloud or at least make it two backup drives?
