I can't wait for the constant nudgings to buy some other shit while playing what I presumed a whole product when I bought it. I never asked for shit.

Yeah, I hate all this crossover bullshit of books, apps and shit. I want the whole experience, not to miss something because I don't have a smart phone, tablet or some shit.

I couldn't give a fuck about these "universes" or all that cluttery shit they are thinking of, but it would be nice if they managed to improve from HR by some miracle for the next game.

I want to leave you with a piece of concept art from our next-gen Deus Ex game that shows trans-humanism segregation, which is a backdrop to our vision for the next Deus Ex.
Wow, that concept art embodies absolutely nothing about the cyberpunk genre in which Deus Ex resides. I'm actually far more disappointed in that than I am the social-media-twitter-app-iphone-tablet-myspace-whateverthefuck. It looks like the hanger of the Galactica. I WANT BACK ALLEYS, HIGHRISE RESIDENTAL FORTRESSES, AND DESOLATE CORPORATE OFFICES, AT NIGHT!

And the conspiracy needs to be ripped straight outta Alex Jones' douchebaggery.

The painting is showing you a dark alley, right next to a high rise building that literally has a gilded interior. It's a little obvious but captures the dichotomy of life in cyberpunk quite well.

Though I can't see it, I will accept your assessment and try to remain optimistic. I'm trying to reverse my typically negative outlook before it gives me cancer.

Yes, let's not perfect our craft before we start worrying about product universe. That's how you produce good work.

Jap Suit: Your appointment to Eidos Montreal should be finalized within the week. I've already discussed the matter with our board.
David Anfossi: I take it they were agreeable?
Jap Suit: They didn't really have a choice.
David Anfossi: Have they been infected?
Jap Suit: Oh yes, most certainly. When we mentioned how much money DE:HR made for us, they were so willing it was almost pathetic.
David Anfossi: This decline -- the rioting is intensifying to the point where we may not be able to contain it.
Jap Suit: Why contain it? Let it spill over into the boards and forums, let the mindless pile up in the streets. In the end, they'll beg us to save them.
David Anfossi: I've received reports of dick gifs on boards. There's not enough facebook gaming to go around, and the underclasses are starting to get desperate.
Jap Suit: Of course they're desperate. They can smell the death of a great game, and the sound they'll make rattling their keyboards will serve as a warning to the rest.
David Anfossi: Mmm. I hope you're not underestimating the problem. The others may not go as quietly as you think -- intelligence indicates they're behind the problems on the forums.
Jap Suit: A bunch of pretentious old men playing cRPGs. But the world left them behind long ago. We are the future.
David Anfossi: We have other problems.
Jap Suit: Kotaku?
David Anfossi: Formed by executive order after the terrorist strike on the oldies. We have someone in place though. I'm more concerned about the dex -- they've relocated to a new server.
Jap Suit: Our decline corpus is far in advance of theirs, as is our budget, and their... ethical inflexibility has allowed us to make progress in areas they refuse to consider.
David Anfossi: New gen games?
Jap Suit: Among other things -- but I must admit that I've been somewhat disappointed with the performance of the primary unit.
David Anfossi: The secondary unit should be online soon. He's currently undergoing preparations and should be operational within six months. My people will continue to report on its progress. If necessary, the primary will be terminated.

Bob Page: We've had to endure much, you and I, but soon there will be order again, a new age. Aquinas spoke of the mythical City on the Hill. Soon that city will be a reality, and we will be crowned its kings. Or better than kings. Gods.

I shed man-tears for a such a beautiful game becoming what it has become.

So pretty much present-day Hong Kong (or a number of other cities), then.

~Sent from my not-quite-desolate corporate office, before I head home to my highrise residential fortress.

With this edition, we forced the team the awkward task of pushing the boundaries of faggotry and popamolism to explore something we believe will become a big part of the future of the franchise, the second dick experience.

David Anfossi, producer of good-for-what-it-was Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and general manager of Eidos Montreal ever since the bosses back in Japan kicked out his predecessor due to the controversy surrounding the Thief reboot, has made an announcement about the future of the Deus Ex franchise. Here's what the man has to say:

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a critical and commercial success, and from this game an amazing franchise has been revived. We are fully committed to Deus Ex here at Eidos-Montreal, we’ve already learnt so much and we have many new ideas for the future that we are actively working to develop.

So first up, I am delighted to announce that we have confirmed a ship date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut. We will be releasing the game on October 22 (25 in PAL regions) on the Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Over the last 18 months, the team has been working very hard on the development of the Director’s Cut. With this edition, we gave the team the envious task of pushing the boundaries of innovation and creativity to explore something we believe will become a big part of the future of the franchise, the second screen experience. When the game launches, players will have the opportunity to experience Human Revolution in a new and unique way through SmartGlass, the PSVita and the Wii U GamePad. I look forward to hearing your feedback on the Deus Ex forums.

And we are taking things further.

I’m really excited to let you know that we are working on an ambitious idea which we’re calling Deus Ex Universe.

The concept behind Deus Ex: Universe is to create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games. It’s a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before. Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc... You might have seen the name pop up recently in the press – well this is what it’s all about.

I’m pleased to confirm that we are already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-generation consoles. We’re very excited about it at the studio and I wanted to let you know that most of the team behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already working hard on this new game. It took us four years to learn how to create a unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution and it was important for me to keep this knowledge within the franchise.

I want to leave you with a piece of concept art from our next-gen Deus Ex game that shows trans-humanism segregation, which is a backdrop to our vision for the next Deus Ex. It represents a "ghetto-city' voluntarily built in order to separate the classes. The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex.

For now, I hope you are excited about the future of this game that we love so much. Deus Ex is coming to next-gen, it’s early so don’t expect to hear much more from us just yet, but I wanted you to know.
Deus Ex Universe? Sounds kind of popamole. Considering the fortunes of Square Enix these days, I hope they aren't forced to milk the franchise to death. No word yet on whether that Human Revolution Director's Cut will cost any money on PC for people who already own the original game.

... well, I have a feeling this will be fun if you don't expect too much.

After hearing this news in his sheer maddened state, I'm sure Warren Spector has once again retreated to his basement, and begun working on the next Mickey game.
