Yeah, W3 is shit and Elex is top tier open world RPG. I get it.

Actualy it's true, in w3 all money went into writing, voice over graphics and animation.

In Elex all money went into world building and rpg mechanics, while Elex might have clunky combat animations, the combat is way more rpgish than in witcher 3 because rules determine the outcome and not how fast you can dodge or click mouse button like in witcher 3.

That's like morrowind combat vs skyrim combat, where morrowind has the dice roll combat which is how rpg combat should be compared to skyrim where it only matters how fast you click the mouse button and how fast the animations are.

That's why newfags in morrowind complain about 'clunky combat' where they 'miss' even when they are in the face of opponent, little do they know, this is how a proper rpg combat should be.

So yes, compared to Witcher 3, Elex is a top tier RPG.

Have you actually watched Elex combat? It's just non stop rolling and backpedaling while shooting shit at mobs.... even mass effect managed more engaging and rpgish combat.

I think they are joking and if not, they are mentaly retarded and you should pity them

Do the melee swing animation and combo possibilities determined by skill level again? Like in gothic.

yes

The weapons are affected by skills, you can see this easily in previous gif where the dude shoots the bow, he got his aim straight in the face of raptor but the arrow misses the target, because the roll check for the skill was negative.

This is a real aRPG ! not shit like witcher 3 or skyrim

If you say mass effect got 'rpg' combat you don't know what you are talking about

Fallout 1, 2, Baldur's Gate, Morrowind, Gothic got RPG combat,

Witcher 3, Skyrim, Mass effect DOES NOT have rpg combat

The combat looks like shit in every video, i couldnt care less if its handled by skill. If you are going to have an action rpg, with third person combat, then at least make it play smooth and not like its missing half the animations.

Skill combat = rpg

Shitty animations = rpg fan does not give a shit about shitty animations, he enjoys the skill combat.

That is why Elex is GREAT, Piranha Bytes is not AAA, they got 25 men, instead of spending money on useless animations, they made a proper RPG.

if you mean player skill that is not rpg combat.
Any combat where players need to do do swings, rolls, dodges and shit is action combat. It can be bad or good, hard or easy but it is not rpg combat.

Which part of 'skill' combat do you not understand? I'm not talking about player skill, i'm talking about in game skills.

Elex even got attributes which you MANUALY add on level up, something which is lacking in RPGs since 15 years in other rpgs

Means nothing if player still needs to control all movement and attacks. It is still action combat. Maybe it is more complex than average similar game but it is still same general kind.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Yes. Combat in rpg are preferable to be stat and number based, instead of player skill.

The playere skill comes in the from of distributing these numbers to the character to maximize the build or simply doing something that the player feel if the character should have aka role playing

Both Morrowind and Skyrim have action combat. Skyrim version is a simpler one.

Yes Morrowind got some stat rolls and shit but you still need to aim at enemy for anything to roll and you still need to move away from enemy to get missed. That is action combat.

Compared to turn based games or BG that only have you tell your characters what to do and they do it themselves, not you. That is not action combat.

In Baldur's Gate if you will not click on the target your character will not attack, if you move away, the enemy will not be able to attack you in melee because you will be out of range..... baldur's gate got action combat !

Whoah dude you are right! This is the most complex rpg stat system I've seen! True fucking oldschool. Does more strenght really increase melee damage? Mind-fucking-blown. Is this really 2017 or we r in futur?

Let me guess: constitution - more hp; dexterity more ranged damage; intelligence more magic damage; cunning more crit chance;

Damn, thats deep real er-pe-gee. 15 years, 15 years waiting for MESSIAH!

The hype for ELEX is understandable, unsless it goes full retard-mode, Makabb is an example of something you DON'T want to be.
Also, if we want to comapare this game to other open world game with diffrent bioms, we should start with Horizon: Zero Dawn. It's still fresh and for sure has better gameplay.

Cant really compare budgets, a Sony AAA first party title to a budget german rpg, but yes, Horizon looks do to almost everything better than Elex, the combat, the weapons, the enemies, the story, the world design... also it gets extra points for udmurt protagonist.

GTFO you disgusting infidel. You're not even worthy to put the word "Elex" into your mouth. Not to mention play this divine gift to humanity. May you never play another game without crash to desktop at least seven times for daring to question the majesty of Elex.
