Yes, let's muddy the issue by spouting irrelevancies because we should defend game developers no matter what kind of bullshit they try to pull. Are you invested in FD or are you shilling just for the hell of it?
Wait, I smudge a tear in the corner of my eye because of those poor souls don't get a refund. I'm totally fed up with this issue so I think I just continue spouting irrelevancies. :)

I mean, what do you care if other people are getting a refund? You'll still have your game and nothing changes so why give a shit?

I guess we'll have to make a FANBOY² tag for you. This is getting ridiculous.

This way you can bomb any Kickstarter. Sorry, but there's always a risk involved in backing a game that does not exist.

I should get a refund for Pillars of Eternity, because it's shit. I could ask for my money back, because Wasteland 2 dumped the stealth skill. I could ask for another refund, because Torment isn't RTwP. Day and night cycles, NPC schedules? Divinity: Original Sin did not deliver, give me my money back!

It's really no different than every other Kickstarter game i cared about so far.

Do we really start refunding every god damned game where one promised feature is taken out?

If the omission of said feature makes it inconvenient or even impossible for some to play? Then yes.
In order to play ED you have to have an internet connection. You have to download a large amount of files and update the game frequently. This game requires interent connection one way or the other. And solo mode requires what? 10kbps of bandwith? It might be inconvenient, but not unplayable.

Yes, and not everyone is always using the same internet connection. People need to travel, sometimes for extended periods of time, and maybe they'd like to play then, too? The mobile network coverage is still non-existent in the area where my summer home is, for example, so having to login just so I can play in singleplayer really is a dealbreaker - the fact that I have 350 mbit connection at home doesn't exactly help me then.

And since when was updating mandatory right after patch is released? With the offline version, people could've updated when it was convenient for them.

Out of curiosity -- has anyone who has played in the game so far experienced any kind of lag or disconnection issues in solo mode? I haven't, but maybe someone else has. How frequent/disruptive have your disconnections been?

They didn't announce any system requirements. Should i ask for a refund, because my 8 year old laptop can't run the game?

Crowdfunding is always a risk. End of story.

I don't care if they get a refund or not. I just don't like that Frontier is called a fraud because of this. c

I'm trying hard you see, but DU is not making progress in this issue.

I guess if you live in a God forsaken place, you have bigger problems than not being able to play videogames. Or if you visit your summer home, maybe...I don't know...play something else.

Also, don't try to feed me that those spoiled brats who are throwing a hissy fit because of this are serious business men who travel around the world all the time.

Oh, and any smartphone can easily provide 10kbps worth of internet coverage all the time, and you really have to be in that 1% spot where there is no internet connection if you can't use that.

Again with the false equivalencies. They've been saying singleplayer was in all along, and now they pulled it at the eleventh hour. Fine, do whatever you want, but you have to refund those people who were promised something else they are now getting. Which just might happen after all, fortunately:

We will be contacting them each in the next few working days.

Singleplayer is still in. Always has been. You're talking about offline mode. As long as you have an Internet connection, you can play singleplayer to your heart's content. Words matter.

And you know what the really sad thing is? That the majority of these refunds will be from people who played the online beta for months, and they could easily play online after release. They just have these misguieded principles about ethics. They are showing the company that they can't fuck with them. Oh you show them allright. I just hope that the game will be amazing, and these people will watch others play from the sidelines. The best trick is that if the devs refund 55 dollars (preorder+beta), the complainers can buy the game after release for 40 dollars. They already had their time with the beta, and they got 15 bucks back.

Single player is still in and has always been in. It's offline play that got axed. :P

Shut the fuck up JC, you've never even played the original games, you have no clue why those people backed and why they would want a completely justified refund now. Take that cock out of your mouth man.

We're splitting hairs now, but unless you can opt-out of other players affecting the shared universe, then it's not truly singleplayer, is it. :M

This doesn't matter, for fucks sake.
I can Play online 85+% of the year without major Problems.
The remaining % is the amount keeping me away from buying games that need permanent Internet Connection for Singleplayer.

Great. Now use that 15% of the year for playing with other stuff. Or with your girlfriend.

Wow.
You are objetively one absolutely retarded fanboy, uncabable of understanding even the most simple arguments.
To bad i didn't take the visual sign on your virtual head as enough of a warning.

Product was advertised AND SOLD with Quality X (Playable without Internet), its lacking said Quality.
The Product is thus faulty and a return of the Money is adequate.
But hey, you would probably also buy a car whose doors don't open 15% of the time, rationalising it with "oh chucks, who cares, i can fuck a Tenga in the meantime, no need to get angered, because at least the motor and steering works, that what matters. Only car thieves would like doors that work everytime anyways."

....So nobody has had any connection issues inside the actual game? I was expecting horror stories from the way people are acting up.
If they haven't been playing he game, they're eligible for refunds. They should get their refunds and leave. It's the sensible thing to do if they're upset. Get your refund, and GTFO. Go play oolite and stop crapping up this thread.

You are talking to people who haven't paid for the game. I think it's quite obvious?
