Those are some interesting changes they've made, DarkSign. If had a computer that could run EQ2 and the money and time to play it, I think I'd give it a try. :)

My favourite MMO (EQ2) has been butchered beyond repair, yet I still play on occasion (thank you progression servers). I love Norrath and all it's lore. In any case, this video sure is cool. Anyone played or is playing EQ2?

Yeah they ruined it. Then removing the neighborhoods and class/archetype progression was a bummer when I tried the progression server. EQ1 TLPs are pretty decent, seems like they barely care about EQ2s.

Nice to see a fellow EQ enjoyer. Yeah, getting rid of the neighborhoods was pure decline. I play on EQ2's Progession server which can be fun. Nostalgia is a hell of a thing.

I played EQ2 up until the Rise of Kunark expansion, I think it was the third or fourth one. Stopped playing after that ice one, this was around 2010 or so I think.

I had fun with it. I still remember the mythical weapon quests for some of my characters.

Can't imagine what they've done to it since.

I... thought EQ2 shut down like 15 years ago.

Whales have been propping it up for a good long while. I won't pretend I didn't help. I don't regret it though. I still run a guild and have lifelong friends from both EQ1 & 2 who are in it. Good times can still be had.
Thoughts for a newbie jumping in? It'll be ages but I want to play EQ 1 and 2 at some point. Progression server...?

Awesome :salute:

For EQ2 I recommend (strongly) to play on Varsoon. That is their progression server. If you just want a ton of content and very little challenge, but you want to experience all the lands and lore etc, then play on Antonia Bayle or Maj'Dul, which are a couple of their live servers.

For EQ1 you have a couple of options. If you are set on playing EQ2 and you decide to subscribe, then I would recommend playing on Oakwynd, a progression server. Your 2nd option is P99 (project 1999 classic everquest). It takes a tiny bit of setting up, but it is as close to the original EQ experience you can get.

If you need any help or have any questions, just give me a holler right here.
