Fallout is just unplayable nowadays.
Really? Do tell!
Well, first of all, it's 2D. What the fuck is that? I'm not 2D, and neither is my cock.

Secondly, turn-based? Real life doesn't take turns. Talk about immersion-breaking.

Third, where are all the nukes? The game throws these huge motherfucking super mutants at me and I can't blast them with nukes? Can you say "lack of balance" with me? Not to mention it would be HILARIOUS punch someone with a nuke and see them die due to radiation right in front of my face!

Need I go on?
Right. I'm gonna write you off as sarcastic. But if you're serious; oh well, that's the gene pool.
http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=19592

"It's been a decade since the original Fallout was released, and so much has changed about gaming, and games, that a new Fallout made like the originals would be largely unplayable, and deeply disappointing."
Oh god, that one calls for a John Constantine fffffffff... kinhell!

Edit: finished reading the whole article and forum posts. can someone now please explain to me why the world is in such a fucking shitty state? christ, man, I grew up during the end of the 80's and the whole goddamn early 90's and had to endure grunge on MTV ((but at least it was grunge (music) on MTV) but this, oh man... what the fuck? When did the escapist turn? i remember the first articles on it were good. Why the FUCK does everything have to turn to the evil fucking asswipe side of things?

Why can't we have nice things in this fucking world?

Edit: fuck, sorry, people, it's past midnight and I'm drunk and i have to start working at a thing I'm doing. what the fucking hell did I write? cheeeeeesus!

edit: that text under my sig is a goddamn liar!

Lead Level Designer: Joel who hired a bunch of Oblivion modders to make "FO3 dungeons".

To be fair almost anybody that put in some effort and thought in dungeon design could have done better dungeons than the ones made in Oblivion.

I'm Doctor Pete Howard and this is how it is: a dungeon, to me and the three video game men I borrowed my name from, is just a couple of rooms with passage ways with different wall textures (y'know rock, wood, metal, fur, human skin, whatever), some bad guys to smack around, scaled to your level, of course, usually a puzzle or two to figure out (missing keys, mind bending problems (bucket one has room for four penises, bucket two has room for one penis but you need to fill bucket one with six penises) tetris or whatever) and, perhaps, some treasure to take with you once you're leaving, happily satisfied with the fact that you'll never come back. Then you find a second dungeon and repeat the exciting adventure!

And besides, the modders are probably better at the job than most Oblivion developers, as long as they get to execute that modder magic and isn't baked into the Bethsoft machine.

They also hired a Fallout 3 designer whose dislike of Fallout and hatred of the Fallout community were legendary. Forgot his name. Briosafreak knows who I'm talking about.

It was a QA guy. He liked Fallout, but it needed RtwP to be a good game, in his view.He hated everyone that was perceived to be a Fallout fan on the BIS/Interplay forum. Don't know if he is still there, he has what he wanted so good for him, he won the fight, no hard feelings from me, too much time has passed.

Edit: he is a member of this place, named Shadowstrider. Let him in peace, he's not a big shot.

Doesn't sound much like a gamer, and his advice was repeated by other artists before him. I also kind of wish that he had a page of drawings. I mean talking about artists is one thing, but I want to gaze at there fruits of laybor.

Haradaya plays more games than this fellow ever will. He was even influenced by the cast of Street fighter. So, what does this artist do to make his characters...unique?

But as we all know, I always look for the candy in the middle regardless of who says it.

I hate that fucking stupid bitch. She blatantly ignores anything that is derogatory about Bethesda, who don't even pay her for being moderator for their playpen for retards.

I can't believe people are actually taking me seriously.
Sweetie! Why you gotta be that way, huh?

Can't believe this is the only place on the internet where nobody wants me to use smileys whenever I post! Team Gizka forums: you gotta use smileys so we know you're not actually being an asshole! (But I really was an asshole.) Bethsoft forums: ditto. BioWare forums: same, same, but different. Every other place: do I have to repeat myself? RPG Codex: what, you still here? That's the stuff of intellectuals right there, my ma'am!

Nice work, though. Love the discussion! I've got half a mind to get in it but I can't stand the bunch.

Edit: I fucking failed.

I heard some talk that the Bethesda guild gives free games to those who have a rank of moderator.

Rumours?

I don't blame this guy for not playing Fallout, but I am shocked Bethesda never made it part of the project syllabus.

Even if the guy isn't in charge of any design elements, it helps the team work cohesively - everyone knows what their working towards (or having to keep true to). Film directors often make reading the book a movie is based on (or has similar content) compulsory for both cast and crew - to help get them all in the right frame of mind.

Heck, simply playing the demo would probably suffice for most..

Given that she is fucking clueless, regarding both FO and TES, I do have to wonder if she isn't just some paid up shill.

When the NMA threads were getting interesting (read: critical) she kept butting in, trying to derail with questions along the lines of: how big was the screen, what was the trip like, were the booth babes sexy and similar bullshit. At the same time, she's shutting down other topics for meandering slightly - pretty pathetic.

Summer's post are sometimes hard to follow and her motives hard to understand, and she seems to piss off a lot of people with her aloof, better-than-thou attitude. But I don't think she's a shill, just a big fan. A big fan given mod powers.

What is weird is that she locked this thread on the sensible logic that it's just cross-site trolling, but for some reason the head mod opened it again and declared it unlockable no matter what. It's almost like they really want that thread around ;)

Damnit Kharn, you've gotten me posting on the official forums again.

Just when I thought I was out...

Edit: Also, as annoying as Summer may be, at least she seems like a decent human being, which is more than you can say for a lot of people once they get mod powers.

Edit edit: Also Kharn, what's the story with the thread censorship?

If you've seen Flight of the Conchords, I'm pretty sure the character 'Mel' is based off of Summer.

I couldn't either. Check this, coming after a couple of blatant sarcastic posts about Oblivion being the best RPG ever.

Fallout I is largely unplayable, and extremely disappointing today. The turn based combat is slow and tedious, most of the dialogue isn't voice recorded and the graphics are horribly outdated and are not immersive enough.

This just shows that you found Fallout much later than most of us. Fallout 1 is widely considered to be one of the best videogames ever made. It's perfectly playable. I've played the entirety of Fallout 1 several times, and your tolerance of turn based combat and the graphics just show a general lack of patience and imagination. Contemporary RPG's are so graphically enhanced that very little is left to that creative part of your brain. That said, I do love pretty graphics.

In another thread, the same Zen Rabbit discusses his high literary skills with Kharn

I myself am a published writer of poetry, fiction and journalism. I have a minor in history and my major is in creative writing. I attend the University of Tampa and will be graduating in December.

Guess you can be a "creative writer" yet a shitty reader.

Anyway thanks Jedi Learner, I got myself some nice entertainment during my morning coffee/cigarettes routine, seing those "sarcasm detection checks" fail on your http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=749712&st=0 thread.

And anyone who asks, or comments about the unfairness of the claim the thread is unlock-able, even though it is clearly a cross site troll get there posts deleted. After Deleting 3 of my posts I got a warning for Spam and being overly sarcastic. I kid you not that is what was in the warning.

It's kind of like they want people to flame and troll, but only people who want to hate on NMA can do so. If you reply in kind it is deleted and your lucky if you just get warned. I complained to that twit Gstaff about this, but he is about as useless as they come.

I think that preview has touched some nerves with the mods there. And we are near the time when mild dissent is going to lead to bans there I can already tell.

It's not like it matters, the majority opinion in the thread is that Playcircus is a twat.

I'm pretty sure that that was the majority opinion regarding Playcircus well before that thread.

I'm just saying. If their dastardly plan is to give people room to vent about NMA, it's not really working out for them.

The other day I saw a show about the fact that a sense of sarcasm is the last bit of the sense of humor a person normally develops.

The scary thing is that many people apparently never develop it. Case in point: even on this very thread, sabishii' original post and Locue's misunderstanding of it!

Friggin' hilarious!

My worry is that if Beth defends cross-site trolling in such a fashion, then they might try to use it as a PR weapon against the original Fallout community and the Codex to damage our credibility. If Beth is capable of such complex behavior, that is.

Honestly, I didn't believe Pete when he said that they've all played Fallout and are OMGosh big 1337 Fallou7 f4nz! And is it me or do they all only deal with the minor, secondary matters of game development?
