Ever since finding the top 70 list of RPGs and seeing Fallout 1 and 2 at the top I couldn't understand how a game this boring, with just a few quests, bad interface, and only a handful of interesting characters was so beloved by cRPG fans.

I love PS:T, BG and Arcania. These games have stories that suck me in and I want to learn more about their settings.

Only recently did I understand why in my opinion Fallout is such a bad game.

It's because I played it for the first time after I played Fallout 4 for 200 hours and Fallout NV for an equal amount of time.

By the time I got to Fallout 1 it's setting was so well-known and boring like the generic orcs, elves and dragons fantasy setting to me.

After leaving vault 13 there was no mystery, no surprises. I had to literally force myself to play through Fallout 1 and I have nothing left to play Fallout 2 past the starting village.

So to me, Fallout 4 was the game I played first, it was the game that introduced the setting to me. I played it A LOT, read all the terminal stories, the events that lead up to the war, etc.

Because of that, in my mind, Fallout 4 is and will be the best Fallout game. It is the game I associate the exploration of an unknown setting to. Gameplay and graphics are better, story with the DLCs too. So there you go, Fallout 4 is the best Fallout game to me :P

"Vic" in my native language means "joke". Cohencidence?

It's also the protagonist of 'a boy and his dog', which heavily inspired the fallout setting. Don't get me wrong, I think fallout 4 is shit, but it's less shit than fallout 1 and 2 to me. If fallout had challenging combat and good exploration like BG or interesting characters and story like PS:T, I might've actually enjoyed it.

You only ever felt Todd's crotch touch, but Cain's touch is much more gentle, deep and nuanced. Maybe you like your game rough, and Fallout 4 was born after Todd was rough to Cain's braindaughter Falloutisia. You see, she was 11 years old when she first sat at Bethesda couch and uncles Todd, Pete and Emilio offered her big girl cocktail...

Maybe you identify yourself with Fallout IP's present, craving it for your future. Many such cases, even more repressed ones!

I am looking forward to Fallout 5, where dialogue with NPCs will consist of pressing A for ":)" and B for ":("

They already get rid of the human NPC in F76, there is no way they still keep any kind of NPC in the game in Fallout 5. There will be no dialogue system and only terminals and journals for you to "explore".

Your decision to post that here is similar to deciding to go to a hardcore porn site and making a post stating that porn is better when it's a first person shooter.

OP might have missed the point of Codex but something tells me he hit it and us all, just like his life instructor did. He supreme gentleman. He gunpusser. Fallout 4 was only his practice ground

Fabulously optimistic. You're not supposed to play Fallout 5 in a conventional way: Fallout 5 will be AI and procedural only, even your player character. The game takes a picture or voice sample of you, creates a 3d model based on that sample in the game, automagically calculates how you would play the game, and then plays the game for you. You can only watch it like a movie.
