This looks like all going to be Fallout 3 again, with some better writing.

Not sure. Normally I like Obsidian but I'm not at least excited for NV.

although the skin colour is too saturated and dark.

Easily fixed. But yeah definitely a step in the right direction.

'[intelligence] you killed 4 people with 3 bullets' is better writing?

It's a fallout game. Expecting good writing from a fallout game is like expecting a faggot to write 99 sonnets on how much he loves vagina. :smug:

Perhaps you should play actual Fallout then? Not Beth crap? You'll be surprised to find that writing in it wasn't retarded.

I beat the first Fallout 3 times. The writing was atrocious. The only thing that kept me going was that I found the PC development and mindless combat pretty entertaining. Overall it made a decent action rpg.

Both of them are trying too hard.
FO1 writing was nothing special. It was still nothing like "have you seen my father - a middle aged guy?"
"[intelligence]so you fight the good fight with your voice?"
"hey you just nuke the whole fucking city, but if you regret it ok - better go apologize to other people and don't do it again"
Or the whole vampire-boy subplot

Fallout feels like it was a thoughtful novel compared to this.

To you maybe. I can barely tell the difference. And what kind of fag actually talks to 3 dog? His only purpose is to get shot in the face.

If release!=US, set invincible 1 on children. Given that the non-NA releases need a disc that doesn't have the ESRB rating on it, needing to print additional discs wouldn't be a valid reason.

... I am confused, what part of "Fallout 2 only had children in the NA release" failed to register?

European removed children, that broken quests and then come the patch that broken even more things with "ghost" children as it was build for the NA release..

Unless there is some strange sidequest requiring you to kill a child (I doubt it), flagging children as "essential" outside of the US isn't going to break any quests.

The ESRB didn't care about Fallout, Fallout 2, Deus Ex, Deus Ex 2, Black and White and Jagged Alliance 2 allowing you to do it. I see no reason why they would choose now to give a fuck.

Ah, yes, but Fox now know that the internet and games exist.

"VIDEO GAME TRAINS TALIBAN TO KILL KIDS AFTER NUCLEAR ATTACK", anyone?

Aside from the fact that I am pretty sure that was a fox affiliate (Not like Cirno News Network is any better), free publicity.

The writing in the first two Fallouts was far from atrocious but it isn't as good as a lot of people here make it out to be -- it was solid. Of course compared to most of the writing today it's Shakespeare.

Well video game writing is passable at best, if they were actual good writers they would be writing books instead.

Good luck with that. Want me to borrow you a shovel? Otherwise it's gonna be a loooooooong wait for you. Hey, while you're waiting, how about listing all Fed-Ex quests in Arcanum and the reasoning why they are Fed-Ex?

Thank you Captain Obvious. That's what everyone has been saying all the time - that compared to other videogame-writing F1 comes out like smelling roses, even if its writing isn't anything spectacular when compared to plays and books.

Why? I've never even played Arcanum. So shove it up your ass.
