Should I come back later here to the shrine?
There is a german-written strategy guide floating around somewhere 'FATE Kompendium' that explains it in further detail, but basically every character has four hidden class levels like Dungeon Master: Fighter/Ninja/Priest/Wizard. Certain actions in battle earns points for one of these classes, and when you go to that altar you'll level up in each class based on your accrued points. These levels provide bonus training points and extra stats.

To gain points:
Fighter - Attack a lot.
Ninja - Shot/throw/steal/hide - Spend a turn in every battle having everyone hide to gain some easy free points in this
Priest - Status effect spells
Wizard - Direct damage spells and the 'grope' action

Other things may count towards these points but those are the easiest ones to use. Winwood can't use spells so Groping is the only way to get Wizard points for him. The class levels go up to 16 but become much harder to raise the higher they get, it's worth it getting most characters up to 4 in all classes because that means ~30 extra training sessions and a bunch of bonus stats.

'FATE Kompendium' I downloaded and then translated with google document translator

Has it infinite or limited charges/usage?
Limited I believe, and yes XP is fully shared across the team. There is a second development system that is specific to each character though. When you go to the shrine in the first dungeon and pray, the stat boosts you get are determined by how many different things you've done in battle, such as using 'grope' or 'pray.'
“TotalExperience”: This refers to the number of experience points a character receives for killing an enemy or a whole group of enemies.
“BaseExp”:This is the portion of the “TotalExp” that all other characters get.

I have tested it. And yes, indeed everybody gets the same BaseExp regardless of party size. So you can have a full 4 parties with 28 members. Of course the eating/drinking chore would be a problem.
In every other crpg the XP distributed among the members, not here.

I am in the Grottos! Again! Last time I have abandoned this game here.
I need a levitate spell. How can I get one?

It is the same again, monster waves after waves without pause, no rest for the wicked!
I do not understand last time why I had not used the save state feature of the emulator. It is easier playing now using that. You have no time to press the standard game save button between battles. Mainly because of the crappy UI.
Standard save I use only at the end of my playing session. Olaf punishes you because of the save scumming. He did not even dream of the save states.

I don't think there is one? What are you trying to do?

monster waves after waves without pause
When I got there I had a Warphammer and two Vixhammers, they cleared every monster in one round, except Dracs. I eventually got bored trying to figure out the puzzle on level 7. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

From a *bad* walkthrough: "take the paintcan item found there. You will probably need a levitate spell to do this"
But I can use the Elementary Teleports spell to disable the teleports. There was a teleport in the way to reach the can. I have not found any levitate spell.

Man, this game is so badly programmed. I cannot read the message of enemy actions because it is so fast using long delays. Then I chose click delays. Yes, you have to click always, except after the combat message, so I can't read it again. :-D

Other annoying thing: in battle, monsters attack, then it's Marina's turn, do healing, but I could not see Marina's HP because of her activated picture, so I do not know does she need healing?
