heh: honestly it seems like matt and trey made the game and obsidian coded it. but i know that's wrong. oh well - good for obsidian. now make my poe

Naarrativly yes (though implementation is Obsidian/Fenstermaker), but other design is absolutly Obsidian. Combat design as well, as it builds off ideas from Alpha Protocol and Dungeon Siege III.

Granted, as I ranted previously it clearly got publisher mangled in the combat department.

"We have a general policy whenever we're talking to different publishers now: we don't do anything that has to do with Metacritic. It's an unfair way of... in a lot of ways it can only be used as a way to take advantage of a developer.

Man learns from his mistakes. I'm curious about the setting of their AAA project, will it be Sci-fi or medieval Skyrim.

I really hope they do sci-fi. I would kill for a good, fun sci-fi RPG

This. I'm sick of fantasy RPGs. I hope Witcher 3 will be the last, at least for a while.

The market is already getting plenty of sci-fi RPGs this year - Underrail, Dragonfall, Wasteland 2, and the later parts of Age of Decadence immediately come to mind.

I'm tired of "medieval fantasy or sci-fi?" being a legitimate question. The South Park game is refreshing at least for its self-awareness about staying within the mold, and satirizing it.

I think Alpha Protocol was an attempt to take a small step in a slightly new direction, and the effort wasn't exactly rewarded, from what I can tell. (Incidentally, it's part of the Sega Humble Bundle that went live today, where you can pick it up for minimum $1.)

I bet what had to change according to Ubisoft had something to do with the difficulty of the game.

The combat is definitely the best in an Obsidian game yet, not that that's saying much. Shame it's too easy, but that's to be expected for AAA games.

Space vikings. It's only a matter of time.

L0L Typical Obsidian fanboy.

All the good parts (with a slight painful not to SP) are because of Obsidian and all the bad is because of the publisher. HAHAHAHA!

I'd like to see a non-tolikenesqe fantasy. It doesn't even have to be a bizzare and non-traditional for the sake of it thing either. An "Arabian Nights" setting with scimitar wielding swordsman and vieled harem girls would be traditional enough to not scare off the casuals (so many things in fantasy, like Jinn, flying carpets, magic words ect. are taken directly from the compilation, plus I think Disney made a lot of money off a work in such a setting once.), but not done to death.

No, save system sucks and pc options are limited. Also while I'm sure the combat could have been better I'm not too big of a fan of the generally simple approach taken in these games. Even if it theoretically leads to more interesting combat. (Which only paid off in DSIII so far)

Also I'm a fan of Matt and Trey as a creative team, so double no.

Fergus confirmed to be a 'thal. No surprise really, there's no way a sap could have kept Obsidian afloat in the ocean of melonhead publishers.
