That and I'd imagine they wouldn't be able to get away with half the shit they pulled in 1997 today. Can you imagine how modern Final Fantasy 7 "fans" (most of whom probably only know the fucking game through emo-Cloud and Yandere Sephiroth in Advent Children and the Kingdom Hearts games) would react to the fucking crossdressing section? Or the part where you must be massaged by bodybuilders in a hottub to aid in your attempts to look more convincingly like a woman?

That and yeah, Square Enix does have to sink alot of time, money, and manpower into their major console Final Fantasy releases, and I'm sure they'd rather try and re-spark their earlier success by getting their fans interested in a new entry as opposed to pining for shit they made almost 16 fucking years ago.

Shit, most of the early game stuff would be wayyyyy too dicey to do nowadays. Playing a mercenary who works for a terrorist organization that blows energy reactors up for questionable reasons?

And Cloud was always way too confident and "strong" to be a modern protagonist (without being a girl). Strong male protagonists don't sell.

A bit like this.

Did you ever play the game? Second half of it is nothing but emo cries, "what-am-I" questionings and even the guy completly refusing to fight...

Considering he was mindraped pretty hard and given multiple lethal doses of Mako (radiation) poisoning, those are all pretty normal phenomena. Before that, he was the most talkative party member and was often :smug: and cracked jokes the most out of anyone. He also got better after the mindrape was fixed, and screwed Tifa when he had the chance. Of course, confident and strong protagonists don't sell these days in Japan (due to the demographic), so they fagged him up real good for Advent Children, which is where the emofag Cloud stereotype came from.

What is relevant, is that many of the millions who liked it when they were 14 would immediately buy again now, it if it was remade.
I'm going to have to disagree. Of the four people I know who played and liked FFVII, two of whom were big fans (guilty), none of them care anymore. It's not that they're all jaded, cynical shitheads like me, but they all have life to live and are lucky if they can get a few hours a week to play games and therefore wouldn't want to be playing remakes when there are new games to play. One of the guys in question has played through every Final Fantasy since and he still couldn't be bothered to play VII again. The bottom line is that ain't nobody got time fuh dat.
I think they're milking this just to keep the brand recognition.

I would play FF VII again, but it would have to come with MAJOR updates and new stuffies, not just voice overs and better graphics. And on the other hand, I would immediatly dismiss it if any of the new stuffies were retarded, even if it was just a dumb voice for Vincent or whatever.

It's a very treacherous terrain to do a remake of a game like this, espececially since people imagined things very differently; the PSX graphics required you fo fill in the gaps and everyone did it their own way...

I don't think there is anyway voice acting would end well. It's probably best to just not mess with it and let people keep replaying it as it is.

Square has damn good reason to avoid this remake, yet every time they say so in an interview, tons of retards start nipping at their heels and accusing them of making lame excuses :/

Yeah, that's a pretty valid reason for them to avoid remaking it - especially if they start changing things, I'm not sure they can do the game justice. They're a very different company now than in the 90s with (in my opinion) much less talent.

FFVII: Enhanced Edition, now with an arena.

It would be ridiculous for them to do that, given how many fans out there are willing to pay for a straight 1:1 remake.

I think a lot of the charm of the characters came from the fact that they're not voice-acted and they look like big chunks of clay. The more expressive you make them the more emo it gets. No, this isn't an uncanny valley argument, but rather, a difference between say a British comedy delivery and an American one. I always imagined Cloud as a pretty deadpan guy with a poker face, and of course the only 'personality' animations he has are (1) a cocky shrug, and (2) a cocky hands on waist legs crossed pose, (3) scratching his head. I think I only ever saw the Advent Children trailer, but man, it didn't work.

Imagine PS:T in the DA2 engine and cinematography.

I think that's exactly what Felipepepe meant - there were no voiceovers in FF7, however a remake would inevitably have 'em, which would inevitably disappoint some people if the characters don't end up sounding like they imagined.

I wound't make them mandatory, more like having the option to play the game exactly as it was with update production values, and a new, independant "New Game Neo" mode, for those whol already know the game; this one free to experiment as they like, changing the combat system, adding fast foward, mini-gmaes, whatever their little desu hearts desire.
