Bethesda have released five new FO3 game-play vids over at their official site. Options include watching them at YouTube or downloading the fat high-res versions.
They got the design of the vault door exit room totally wrong. Way to ruin my fantasy, Mr. Immershuns. :/

Achievement unlocked. Escape!

The CHA-CHING sound also seems a little wrong... Anyway, they actually show a lot of detail so it's well worth checking them out. Watch them shoot cars with pistols and cause nuclear explosions, read some of the perks and wander around. Also, DIALOGUE, including a guy who really hates his radio. You can see screenshots from the videos over here at NMA.

The voice acting is passable, but the facial epressions are terrible. When combined with the voice acting, they're abysmal. A step back from the 10 year old original. Laughing with a blank face stands out for me as particularly bad. This could really be a game breaker for me, they really are laughably bad, and could destroy any sense of taking the game seriously.

Other negative thing that really stood out was the fact that you can see Megaton, the capitol, and possible Springvale all from Vault 101's doorstep. (NMA has the screengrab showing them). It took days to travel between settlements in the old games - it's asking too much of the gamer to pretend these are vast distances when you can see them as soon as you emerge and jog to them in two minutes.

In the interests of balance:

Deaths are much better without bloody mess. The power fist death made me go 'oh yeah' as I did when I first saw some of Fallout 1's deaths.

The Megaton explosion was atmospheric.

The music is pretty good, the radio also might add something.

The Protectron was a lot of fun. Going about its office routines armed to the metallic teeth.

These are not vast distances. The game is set on the ruins of Washington DC.

Part of the game is. Part is in The Wasteland, where seperate communities exist, and there you'd have thought those communities would be greater than two minutes' walk apart.

After watching the videos, my opinion of this game has improved significantly (from dismal to... less dismal).

While I still suspect (know) this game will have many flaws and stupidities, I might actually get the game now.

It might be a decent shooter, though it's still a retardation of Fallout.

And fuck I hate Todd Howard.

And christ, Bethesda, give up the stupid fucking minigames already. They suck. Seriously.

Lol at powerfist decapitation
Those voice actors are from oblivion, at least some of them.

Oh, and too bad it's a shooter.

The game looks better the more videos I see, though I still have my doubts. Funny how you can aim with V.A.T.S when it comes to guns, but melee weapons don't have any other options? I'm probably sure the bladed weapons have more options in V.A.T.S than blunt weapons.

Also, was it just me, or did the cave tunnel outside of the fault resemble the underground caves in Oblivion?

Some of those graphics are quite nice, and would have worked well in a game set immediately after the bomb, rather than 200 years later.

Except Beth forgot to add skyboxes to Fallout 3. The sky looks plain grey.

You're right the facial expressions are a real game breaker in this thing

"You so much as breathe wrong, and I'll fucking end ya... Fucking psycho wastelanders," puppet-head said with a twinkle in his eye and a shy smile.

I guess this will bother some people more that others. Bloodlines-- from 2004-- ruined my tolerance for facial animation this crude. This is no better than The Witcher, but the view is closer and the models are more detailed, so it comes off a lot worse.

Unrelated to the topic, but now that I think of it: Did anyone of you ever suffer from crippled limps in Fallout 1? I don't think it happened to me even once, I always thought it was a bug of some sorts...

That was because enemies were too stupid to shoot specific bodyparts.

I don't really mind, but the forum system just doesn't allow it.
OH NOZ! The System will send Agents Smith to erase us.

Well thanks to nuclear explosion 5 meters away from us we can get crippled now and will have to use stimpak to cure broken bones. You can see that nuclear explosions are really dangerous here and not kids toys.

Comments from Gametrailers. In case it hasn't been posted.

I really really loved Oblivion.

But this looks depressing. I'll pass.

Hopefully they will make a new MMO style Oblivion in the future. Oblivion Online or something.

Is there ANY consequence of this "crippled" status?
