Is there ANY consequence of this "crippled" status?
Your weapons deal less damage, I guess. Increased recoil is unfun after all.

Did anyone of you ever suffer from crippled limps in Fallout 1?
Yes, although it wasn't as crippling as it probably should've been. It was pretty annoying to get your arm crippled and not being able to use rifles, but even that wasn't really a problem.

I'm proper glad I wont be playing this game, it all looks very Oblivionesque. The vids mostly focus on the same thing Oblee videos focused on, and I know how all that went. The stupid shit would bother me too much to enjoy it, even playing it as a non-Fallout shooter.

However, it's got all the stuff you put in trailers, to make nerds wet in the pantsular region, so everyone's probably gonna jump on this like they did Oblivion. Ech, I'll be back to watch the pre-hype of Fallout 3's expansion

The overriding impression I got from watching the videos was inconsistent and moronic. No surprise there, I mean we've known for a long time about the nuclear explosions/cars/booths/catapults  but actually seeing some of these front and center in the gameplay vids just left me staring at my monitor in disbelief. Surely someone at Bethesda got a few grades in science at school and pointed out how nonsensical it makes the game?

The only real Fallout feelings I got from the whole thing was seeing the name "Fallout" at the start of each one! Although I think the fpp decision was stupid and wrong for a Fallout sequel, but I like fpp games a lot and it really didn't have to turn out this bad to my mind. It's really more of a game riffing off some of the Fallout ideas, badly, and I view it as an incredibly arrogant and disrespectful move to release this as a 'true sequel' and cash in on the older games' success and fame. (it's irrelevant to me whether they paid for the IP or not)

Ignoring the fact this is supposed to be Fallout 3, there are some good aspects revealed and it may even serve a little braindead shooting fun, if I can find a way to ignore the blatant idiocy that seems to have run through the design of this game. Maybe a lobotomy would do the trick? :(

Ah, just had to get that off my chest - hi to anyone who's still here that might remember me, now back to my irregular lurking of the declining Codex.

Crippled limbs and eyes never made sense anyway, since you could fix them with measly doctor skills. How would you "heal" a "crippled" eye with no medical training and no medkit in sight?

Well actually I think it makes sense: a "crippled" eye means you can't open it, for instance, because it's bruised or otherwise damaged. With a little skill a doctor can heal it (or let the blood out or whatnot). "Crippled" just means you can't use it, not that it's crippled for life. This is no less realistic than, say, surviving a bullet to the head, which can easily happen in FO.

Anyway, the videos showed some pretty good graphics (with some weak spots though), and absolutely retarded gameplay, setting, and humor.

The question is, who do you remember? :horatio-cain: (why are you lurking anyway?)

the videos showed some pretty good graphics

Where? I've downloaded the HD versions of each video and, I've said this a few more times looking at screenshots but, graphics are quite subpar. Only the shaders are saving them some face.

Videos are, well, a disgrace. What bright ideas might be buried in there are rendered pointless under tons of inconsistency like the nuclear cars, the lack of fallout following the explosion, the inane "punching a guy in the gut with a power-fist makes his head pop out", etc, etc.. Ridiculous.

I've been reading the Vault Survival Guide someone linked here, and its great that in 2077 Vault-Tek was able to project that in the future those Mutant Behemots would be walking around. I wonder how unlucky the Vault 13 dwellers were, for their guide didn't have any sort of "future-insight" like this.

Had the devs paid attention, they could have inserted those drawings as added notes by the Overseer, like the actual Fallout 1 guide.

One of the things that get on my nerves is the exploding body parts. a) bodies "break" in unrealistic ways; b) I don't like the camera being taken away from the first person perspective, over and over again, just to show these pathetic attempts at recreating "fallout humor" in retarded needless slow-mo. The death animations worked in Fallout because it was 2D, low res and slightly cartoonish. They're not the same in 3D.

Looks quite fun. They're ruining the whole Fallout universe, of course, but as a game in its own right it looks quite fun. I don't know how good it'll be until I play it, but from what I've seen it looks ok.

I just wish they had called it something different, and let a proper RPG developer make a Fallout game.

I dunno, as a game it looks pretty boring to me. I've played to many good shooters to be impressed by one looking as mediocre/saucy as this.

As an overall package it could be worth some time in a sum-greater-than-parts-way, just like previous Beth games have been to me. But like those I will probably not be enjoyed too long to think it a good game.

Though some athmosphere moments seem great but the inconsistencies ruin those too :/

If it's anything like Oblivion it'll get boring fast. Same dungeons over and over, same enemies, same voice actors, level scaling, boring quests etc...

I'm hoping Bethesda will have learned a few things since then. They've surely played F1 and F2 during the early development process of F3. Surely something must have rubbed off on them.

I just hope violence and swearing weren't the only things that rubbed off.

This may seem like nitpicking... but how the hell are Deathclaws on the east coast? Weren't they mutated horn-lizards? Those aren't exactly common here on the eastern seaboard.

You bunch of fags. Are you so terrified of the hive mind that you are having to find ludicrous things to complain about?

Let's be honest, most of you got jollies playing Oblivion. That's fine. But at least be honest about it.

Personally, yeah I could live with what I've seen so far. So far. But I remember the radiant AI promised for Oblivion which was the sole thing which intrigued me about the game...

At least be honest. Hell, most of the people on these boards got really stoked about Morrowind before some kind of post-coitum sadness kicked in. So it won't be the first time that the hivemind made a royal fuck-up.

And I'm sure it won't be the last. But do at least be honest.
