Gedonia 2 announcement trailer.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2566340/Gedonia_2/

Steam game description.
Gedonia 2 is an online coop RPG, which allows up to 4 players to freely explore living open world and build absolutely unique characters. An expanded and improved sequel for RPG Gedonia.

Why a sequel? Oleg answers,

An answers to some questions about the sequel:

  • Why didn't you just continue expanding on original Gedonia?

While the first game still has a lot of potential to explore, there are some issues that prevent me from infinetely evolving it over the years. First one, of course is not being able to add multiplayer, but also some fundamental shortcoming in animation/scripting/stat scaling etc. A lot of these things are baked into the core of the game at the moment, and I could only fix them by remaking the game from scratch.

  • What will the second game be about?
With Gedonia 2, I aim to explore Eastern regions of the map, like Esnon, Vubros and Osnein. The game will have completely separate storyline and explore different era of the world.

  • Are you still working on the game alone?
No, I am happy to report that I've got some funds from the sales of the original game, and I hired a small tem of artists and writers to help me out! So there will be atleast 6-10 people working on the game in the future.

While I can certainly appreciate wanting to keep General RPG clean, and while I love MMO's, this isn't one. If the criteria is different than what I understand it to be, then Diablo 4 should be moved here as well using this logic. Diablo 3 is here, and is less an MMO than 4. Diablo 3 and 4 also both require an always online connection. Lets not forget what MMO is as an acronym. Massively Multiplayer Online.

I enjoyed the first one. Plenty of jank, dreadful humor, generic plot, and asset store art, but classic in spirit with good fundamentals. The design principles for for areas, characters, spells, and abilities were great. I'm happy to see that they were successful enough to make another. I'll be interested to see what comes of this.

Someone on Steam asked for the trailer background and artwork. Here are the links Oleg provided.

I downscaled the pics to showcase them. The originals in the above links are of much higher quality.

Welcome. Hope you manage to stick around. Some questions for you.

- How big, in comparison to the original, are you planning for the world to be?
- Will the game incorporate the Living Weapon system that was added in the Northern Kingdoms update?
- Will the build variety be as robust as the original?

Hope you are doing well.

- I think somewhat similar size, I plan to increase density of content, rather than increasing the size
- no, not the same exact system, but there might be another similar ones, still early to tell
- I plan to make build variety much, much more robust than the first one

I have no real clue what I am looking at.

The Artstyle is pretty *meh*, it pretty much looks like WoW, i understand why it was seen as an MMO at a glance. I got that I am looking at a coop game you define as an RPG but I am not sure what to expect.

I have never even heard of Gedonia and the steam page blurbs are simply not helpful, for example what does:

Consequential Actions:

In Gedonia 2, every action echoes in the universe. Make choices that not only define your character's path but also mold and transform the world around you. Experience the ripple effects of your decisions, both immediate and long-term, as they lead to surprising and often drastic consequences.

mean exactly?

It's understandable, the game is very much a niche one
mean exactly?
This relates to one new mechanic I have plans to introduce, which relates to the way some quests ifluence particular zones in a world. I can't give more details at this moment, because it's still being worke on and things might change.
fair enough. As it stands right about know I would not know *if* I wanted to play that game. Just see it as feedback on the fact that your marketing is lacking (even in the departments you will most likely be able to fix like the steam page9. I'm pretty open to Indies but I also have only so much time and money, so you might look into improving it at a later date.

Keep us up to date, and I wish you luck in your project.

Honestly, I would wsay that Gedonia 1 stuff inspired from FL1/2 are great but the stuff inspired by wow is not great. I honestly din't liked the itemization and magic system, Is by far my greatest problem with the game.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
will you be addressing stat/hp/dmg bloat that peaked in late game winter lands?

any plans to make hybrid agi-int characters more viable? arcane archer was a thing but a bit boring to just chain multishot and bound arrow then wait for cooldowns. Meanwhile there were no options for melee

Great questions!

Yes, stat bloat is one of the main problems I aim to fix in the sequel. I would've loved to fix it in the original, but unfortunately a lot of health values were already wrote down in people's savefiles.

There is actually new type of magic planned that would benefit agile characters, so this archetype should be more interesting

btw it would be great if you could maintain arcane shield even when your mana is gone. Thought id have great interaction with leather gloves giving mana on hit but for that reason it was useless

I kinda liked gedonia 1 for what it was, it gave me light "fable" vibes, hopefully the 2nd one will more.

-What's the general story going to be?
-Is there going to be a type of physical "growth" system, like in fable, your character becomes physically bigger and more muscular the more stats you put into physical aspects.
-Will there be any "growing up" mechanics, like you start as a kid, and overtime/story you grow up into young adult, and by the end of the game you're kinda old?

The general story is being worked on still.

Regarding aging and growth mechanics, they are quite ambitious mechanics, not sure if I would be able to make them.

I am making 4 different body types for 2 genders in the game, thin, normal, fat and muscular, and I've been thinking of allowing muscular and normal body types only for certain amount of base strength, which would be better for roleplaying. Although some players might hate such restrictions, so I'm still thinking about it

Irondust One of my biggest problems with Gedonia was the UI--particularly how few skills could be bound to keys. Will you be improving upon this?
