$4 solo challenge DLC is coming:

Out now.

So, whats the verdict?

I won't have time to play it for a while (I only play mediocre games with no brain requirements when I have a lot of work), but I'll deffo post about this once I get to it. From the description I'm a little worried it's too "puzzly" for me though. I don't enjoy things like card puzzles in TCGs either, and this looks like it could have that vibe.

The entire game is puzzly, but at least you have to coordinate with the other players to win the missions. The solo scenarios are weird, as most of the time they are much harder if you don't take the right cards at the start. So, it is puzzly but the RNG can still fuck you over. In the digital version they apparently have balanced them, but I'm still doubtful about that.

I got this free from Epic. I really like boardgame dungeon crawlers, but this is the worst dunegon crawler boardgame I've played. I don't get why it's ranked #1 game ever, seriously.

This is a good example of time restriction because you have control over it and it seems natural.
Hard disagree. The way it's normally handled in dungeon crawlers is better: you're in a rush to complete your objective because new enemies keep spawning who are slowly wearing you down. That feels natural.

What do you dislike about it?

The artwork is generic and doesnt help, indeed. But the gameplay is great. Interesting, very challenging and don't get repetititve. I hate the movement limitation, but I understand the need of it.

are there any UI mods to fix this shit up? I would be interested, but that UI appears to be a known carcinogen.

I like the UI
I rate your post “Danish”.

Really though, the trend of “tactical combat == bloated, inelegant UI” has to get pushback from the consumers of tactical games or it’s not going to get better.

What about the Gloomhaven UI is bloated?

It's very minimal, everything is contextual.
You consider this minimal?

It's modern console/mobile UI bloat. All elements are huge, text is huge, no sense of placement in that there's lots of competing elements running horizontally and vertically which squishes the viewable gameplay area significantly.

I haven't played it, it looks interesting based on who is enjoying it itt. Yet, I pop open the steam page and see this kind of prop 65 material...

:notsureifserious:

Also I like how you zoom way the fuck in to make it appear more cluttered than it is, no one plays the game like that

You can/should zoom out and adjust the resolution/UI scale. Doesn't look anything like that in-game for me.

The two cards are barely halfway through the page for me.

Those are all embeds straight off the steam page :M

That bird should be directed towards yourself. You took a screengrab meant to show off creature models and pitched it as representation of how it actually looks while playing :M

I'm very into cock and ball torture
For those of us that haven't played the game yet. Could you provide in-game screenshots of what the UI actually looks like? Agris raises good points that I agree with, but since I haven't played the game, I'm not sure.

Don't play that thing, I tried it, it's an unfortunate mix between a terrible card game and a mediocre board game with a shitty UI and engine.
