Yeah the old gods platformer was pretty cool. You could buy stuff in the game like wicked weapons.

Nothing beat golden axe though. That dwarf with the beard and axe was just wicked.

I think this game is under rated and I feel bad for the dev who said piracy really fucked him. I bet the terrible Gamespot review didn't help either.

I completed this game when it was new. Here's what I remember.

The was a bit of text and a few bits of spoken voice over which was all quite low quality, but then I find it to be shit in most games anyway so at least getting it all done for 5 ruples is something I can respect. Also I seem to recall he hired a porn star / model to be the face of the game and maybe some voices which I think was a great idea because she was good looking and probably cheap and made some aspects of the game seem bigger budget than they really are.

The graphics were low tech and basic but it was pretty enough and I got quite immersed in the world. There was a trading mechanic that I can't remember seeing in any other RPG. It is in almost every space game, but you don't tend to see it in RPGs. Like you buy a bunch of straw from a farm for 10 gold and then travel to the town and sell it for 15 gold. Buy some ale from the brewer, go sell that, etc. It isn't very interesting or fun but not really any worse than trading in space games and not much different to doing mindless quests in other RPGs. Also you only have to do it for an hour or so in the entire game and then you have enough money to win.

Beyond these meh aspects, the rest was pretty good. It is Final Fantasy type combat but in a PC game. You have a party and you travel through swamps and deserts and whatnot, get ambushed by creatures and some bosses. Each character has to use their abilities and spells in a smart way to win. Overall it was an ok game and I think it is sad he didn't make enough money to grow as a dev because I think he could have made some really interesting stuff.
