I blame it on the proliferation of RPG elements in games of other genres. Now every game gets to call itself an RPG.

Nah, I feel like most of us ER fans were pretty lukewarm on SotE. I started hot but soured on it and never finished it. DD2 had more positivity here I feel like. I spent a great deal of time in both threads.

And of course SotE is going to be nominated. Lesser expansions have been.

DD2 is more of a RPG than the other jrpgs we rave about around here.

It's neck and neck between DD2 and Stellar Blade so this awards show means nothing to me. I'm sure it wont mean anything to anyone in a year or two if they keep making nominations based on their insane ideology LOL.

For me it seems like a pretty lousy slow year and I played more stuff than I usually do in my late stage alcoholism. DD2 and Stellar Blade are the cream of the crop 100% and are neck & neck. Other nominees would be Space Marine 2, RE4make, Zelda: EoW, Elden Ring SotE, and even BLOPS 6 because it's honestly p fun.

But DD2 and Stellar Butt are the only two that flirt with greatness imo.

Space Marine 2 is just relatively surprising, because they arguably were about the same as Space Marine 1. For differing reasons..

..But still, we're talking matching Relic, a company ismply knows 40k. Secondly, Space Marine 1's engine is the Darksiders engine. So that's yet another thing that requires an experience of games.

What I think - Saber was willing to use Space Marine 1's gameplay instead of trying to make their own. If they tried to do something different than Relic... Likely we'd have the last season of Game of Thrones. In words.. good humble people.

Also they just made a statemtn about how they're going to hanlde mods.. including providing tools. GOod shit.
