"Also - the game is most definitely "dumbed down" from previous Gothics. I don't find this a major problem, but it's a little disappointing that, within the first hour of play, you can meet trainers capable of training you almost all the way up in melee, hunting, thieving, smithing, etc. I much preferred the breakdown in the first two games, in which certain trainers could only train you to certain levels and it was tough to find somebody who could train you in 100% (or even 80%) of a particular skill category."

This doesn't mean it's 'dumbed down'. That has got to be one of the most overused phrased in regards to video games along with 'epic', 'classic', and a bunch of others.

While a good case could be made (as you did) to spread the love around for the higher end skillz) it doesn't mean it's dumbed down just because it's more accessible. In fact, it isn't really logical how in some games x ability cna only be found in some hidden cave in a far corner of some silly map that no one who is actually role-playing would actually find. None of the abilities that you can get access to early on in G3 make sense to be hidden away. Besdies, for the most part; you won't get those abilities anyways until; much higher leevl anyways simply based on character points needed and gold available.

As for voice overs, I agree. While G3 VO aren't the 'best ever'; I don't really fiund them annoying. Not one G3 VO makes me wnat to break my monitor like a few NWN2 VOs do.
