Nobody but Durendil can be templars out of the box. They need 60 points and have a roll modifier of x2.

Do you have a list of race/class combinations that get the x2 points modifier?
The only other to get 2x is Aeorb Sage, lots of other combos get 1.1-1.9x modifier. Some get modifiers less than 1.

A few questions as I actually get into the game:

1. I keep hearing about multiple starting areas, but when I made a party and selected Journey Onward, I started in the same old forest area with no choice to go anywhere else. What am I doing wrong?

2. If I want my bard to do something else besides attack with their musical instrument (they have some sort of throwing weapon equipped also I believe) then how do I make that happen? "Fight" doesn't give me the option for multiple types of attackes with her.

Change that in Configuration.

You can equip your bard with a main hand weapon for attacking, and then "use" the instrument from the party inventory. A bit clunky. You aren't really intended to switch back and forth between weapon and instrument during combat.

Off-hand weapons get used randomly, when you get a lucky roll.

So my char has those conditions locked for a while. Even if I sleep, nothing changes, so he is paralyzed forever. Bug or need to use some magic to fix that?
All those are effects of disease. Disease can be cured with fruits from Briarpatch Woods. The problem is that paralyzed character can't eat them, so you need to cure paralyze first. Somewhere (in the Shrine of the Raptor?) I found two paralyze cure potions. I used one of them and it only lowered the condition bar, so I had to use both of them. I unparalyzed my char and then healed his disease, but he is still insane.
On the bottom floor of the Shrine, there is a spot of water where you see sparkles, go there to cure all status ailments.
I couldn't find it. :negative:

The owl figurine is the key.

I've never heard of this x2 modifier. I just checked and on a roll of 9 durendil can't get metalsmith anymore. He must roll a 10. If the x2 existed, a 9 would've been sufficient.

The modifier is for templar class. That's why you can have a dur templar at roll 30 despite needing 60. Check iqzulk's document #3, it lists all modifiers for all race/class combos.

In Aquavia there's a pile of wood that shows up as an x on my map.

Does that wood do anything? Can I interact with it? I thought maybe if I could ignite it I'd create a sanctuary. Not sure how to.

People are saying to leave 2 slots open for recruitable NPCs. Is this mandatory for game completion? What do you miss out on if you don't recruit them?

Never recruited any, absolutely non-mandatory.

Do none of the npcs have content or quests you need to recruit them for? I'm going to make a new party, and I'm either going six only, or six with only recruiting npcs for their content. Six makes me try and cover things well, eight is just bloat. But the two npcs I've seen have been pretty OP so if it is just the Inn lady and the fairy and they have no content I don't miss out. But if later npcs have quests and content or need escorts, etc, it would be good to know.

Does anyone have any verified or confirmed information on what stat or stats cause vit to lose resource slower or regen faster (not counting regen from resting). I would like to make a party focused on resting less often (without casting the rest spell).

Objects show up on the map from what I can tell, including wood piles that don't do anything. If you search and there is nothing it may be a safe haven. On the map you can hit the safe haven button to show red flags of them.

A nice trick to show more map areas is to save then use the locate item scroll and then reload. Its helped me figure out some maps and shows critical loot (the loot that says critical when you mouse over in the inventory).

I remember you're saying on some Wizardry thread that you despise blobbers with the whole of your heart.

Is Grimwah so special that it softened you?

You got the wrong guy. I love crpg blobbers. I dislike blobbers with no content like Grimrock. MMX, Wiz7&8, Roa trilogy are all some of my favorite games of all times. Maybe it is rotatable cameras? I hate that, but can still love games that have it like AoD, WL2, the new XCOMs. I hate fucking with cameras. Fixed camera is the way to go. Its better for developers and end users. There is no down side to fixed cameras. Just like blobbers with grid movement - there is no down side and all upside. Only a handful of fucking retards give a shit if there is free cam or 3d movement. Make the actual gameplay systems good, have good content and configurable, easy, and good controls/UI, and fuck the wasted money on stupid shit for superficial idiots.
