Looks like Sacred is out in Europe a day or so early, and that's created problems for the Ascaron guys. Per this post, there seems to be some pretty scary problems:

If you have the International Version of Sacred do not, repeat do NOT try to connect to the Servers, create an account or anything like this.

The International Version will get it's OWN lobby which will go online tomorrow. If you attempt to log in now on the GERMAN Server your account and CDKEY will be LOST.

I say again, do NOT try to log into the GERMAN LOBBY, it does NOT work with Sacred.

FURTHERMORE do NOT try to get your online name reserved in the GERMAN Sacred Forum. An ENGLISH/INTERNATIONAL Forum will go online tomorrow for this purpose.

Looks like getting the game early might not be such a blessing after all, eh?

i still dont get why they added a self destruct sequence to the cdkeys, copy protection is one thing, "Get Smart" level of idiotic design is another

There is no self-destruct to cd-keys that I am aware of, where do you read that?

It's not a self destruct sequence, it's that each CD key can only be used on one server-basically. Right now there are the German servers, which are different from the international servers. I'm sure eventually they'll combine the two-would be silly not to-but until then, if you managed to put your international CD key into the German servers, then the international servers won't let you register.

If someone managed to do this, I'm sure Ascaron could fix it. I haven't heard of it actually happening yet, but apparently it is possible somehow.

i dont mean that the keys get unusable by themselves, i mean that the keys get "lost" if you try them on the german room, why do they get "lost" ?, is it some kind of crime to use the key on that room ?
i said self-destruct because of an old spy parody called "Get Smart" where everything had a self destruct sequence but nevermind :P

It's not a crime. The problem is two-fold.

1. Only the german game works on german servers. It is not compatible with other versions.

2. The cd-key only works with one account. That account can only be tied to one server. Therefore, you use an int'l copy of the game and make an account on the german server, your cd key is lost.

I think they are considering a solution, but because of #1... it's difficult to handle.
