How's the music? Easily one of the best qualities of Hades 1
I would say music and voice acting are roughly the same quality, maybe a little worse in the second game, but those aren't things I'm usually good at judging.

Found the first game to be a decent 6.5-7/10ish. Never understood the immense hype and praise. The action gameplay was pretty good, but level design was near non-existent, progression was barely satisfying, and the gameplay loop got stale incredibly fast. It was kind of a fun take on Greek mythology, but that would be the greatest strength in terms of story.

I don't have an ounce of excitement in me for this sequel, and will probably never play it. I think Super Giant's only truly good game was Transistor. Massively overrated studio.

Likewise and I do like some of this studio's games. I think it's because I play a lot of roguelites and for me this one doesn't really do anything remarkable, hype is because this one probably from the studios reputation got some mainstream hype.

I never understood what people saw in transistor. Granted it's got an interesting premise/setting; but the gameplay was absolute repetitive ass and the characters and narration did nothing for me. Hades dialogue wasn't always good, but there was so much you could easily skip 3/4 of it and just tune in to the characters you enjoyed and there was still a novel's worth in there. And the gameplay was excellent, with all the cool perk/talent/accessory combinations and weapons and variants to play with and explore. All it was really lacking was some more variation among the bosses, as fighting the same ones over and over got tiresome after a while.

Which are your favourite roguelites?

Thinking about picking this. Hades 1 was a solid fun 7/10 game for Christmas holidays couple of years ago.
