Just wondering, is there a technical reason that the pdfs are so delayed compared to the boxed set, or is it more like a copy protection thing?
I fully admit that I don't have the slightest clue about publishing, but I'd imagine the pdf release would be the easy part.

The PDF will be coming in September. There are multiple reasons for this, none of them technical:
1) I am first and foremost a print publisher. I like print, and I like people who like print. The raison d'etre of my small publishing outfit is to make print products - I did PDF for a lot of time, but print feels much better. It feels like I am writing for a community by delivering hand-signed and numbered print booklets, and corresponding with old and new friends. This is worth preserving and cultivating. (I can only recommend people to start a print zine of their own!)
2) There is a difference in the reading experience. People read print, but tend to breeze through PDFs and toss them aside. (I have been guilty of this). If people get the PDF first, that experience of delving into a printed booklet may be lost.
3) There is a slight copy protection element, although I honestly don't mind piracy. As my old prof used to say, "Be proud if you have got something worth stealing." So I am flattered!

Look what the postman just left at my doorstep

Surprised how fast this arrived, especially given that I received two mails already apologizing for the delayed shipping :D

I won't find time before next week to examine this more closely, but even after the most brief of inspections, you can already tell that this is really a labour of love. The quality of the materials, the maps, the language, the names in the setting, the choice of illustrations, everything is of high quality, clicks together, nothing feels out of place.

1) I am first and foremost a print publisher. I like print

That's not hollow phrases, he's absolutely serious about that.

That looks like the same kind of deck used to play watten (called "farbl" in the novel but google comes up with nothing) in The Good Soldier Švejk, interesting to see an RPG with this as I wanted those cards anyway.

Just got my boxed set here in the U.S. and A. I haven't done much else except flip through the maps and started skimming it, but wow, what a nice physical product! Really looking forward to digging in (also amazed at the shipping speed frankly).
:excellent:
