I have no idea what is happening in these games
The Japanese made an arcade shooter where you fight a shitload of alien insects of increasing size before the game goes full JRPG and you start shooting God, it was given an absolute meme of a translation, and they kept making the same game over and over again to much acclaim.

Aren't you supposed to delete all that insect crap ASAP before your performance tanks to single digit or game crash?

I like the plot summary

Step 1. Repel the alien invasion
Step 2. ????
Step 3. Kill God
Japs have surprisingly lot of games where you kill gods.
Apparently it has something do with them being rebelious towards older generations, social order etc. and just power creep from fighting rulers, governments etc., after all you can't abolish higher rule than God's rule. It seems that fedora tipping in this case is really just an afterthought.

There's making your next game in the same engine.
Then there's making your next game mostly an asset reuse.
Then there's the Yakuza games.
Then there's Bethesda games that have engines so similar to one another modders have used the knowledge gained from over 15 years of modding to immediately start modding your new game.
And then there's Earth Defense Force, where a single 9MB mod file allows you to play the previous game's missions in the new game.

Magnificent.
