oh they copy pasted aliens plot for DLC.. how creative and inspired :|

So I guess they weren't holding back on aliens in this universe for a big reveal either.. they actually thought sci-fi space game no aliens was a good idea.

You probably couldn't afford a pc that could run doom 3 until recently, thats why you spent your early 20s failing at making a deus ex mod. Lol.

Doom 3 was the most bland shooter I ever played. The Resident Evil games are the best at mixing horror and action.

Fine, I'll do the gatekeeping as usual.

Blood (1998)
Dying Light (2015)
System Shock 2 (1999)
Parasite Eve 2 (2000)
Doom (PSX/N64 versions)
Devil May Cry (2001)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997)
Darkwood (2017)
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines (2004)
Manhunt (2003)
STALKER: SoC (2009)
Dead Space (2008)
Silent Hill (1998)
Quake (1996)
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (2005)

And yes, certain Resident Evil games, though certainly not any recent ones.

Would keep going with some lesser recs or blurred themes (e.g is not always horror but when it's there it's intense, Like Arx Fatalis or classic Tomb Raider) but this is the gold to cash in first.

It's like mentioning The Rocky Horror Picture Show in a list of top 10 horror movies

It is action with a strong horror theme. It's just not scary. Doesn't change the fact that there are strong horror themes.

Rocky Horror show is shit, so it's not like that at all. If it were awesome I wouldn't have an issue with it.

I wouldn't mind to treat this game as a kiddy Halloween type of horror, but there's Darkwood in the same list, one of the best horror games ever made period, and it is clearly not of the Hammer Film Productions ilk

Old but good.

It's indeed great. I do think the ending is underwhelming, but the atmosphere makes up for it.

This one's a classic. I'd wager most people interested in adventure horror games have already played it, but those who haven't should do so NOW.

Cozy little survival horror game. Combat is a bit basic and the story can be confusing, but the atmosphere is absolutely on point.

Castlevania SOTN is also one of the best games with a horror theme ever made, period. They can exist side-by-side in a list dedicated to "Action Horror". If you want proper distinction between the two, the list would be more specific, e.g survival horror. "Action horror" is a very broad umbrella. Both games fall under it.

Oh give me a fuckin break. Your gay ass little pixel art 2D survival piece of shit wasn't even the third best horror game I played it in 2023. Tormented Souls and White Day were infinitely better, they are true masterpieces. And The Sinking City was also better. Darkwood fucking sucks.
