Horror games for the season (and beyond)

Castlevania SOTN is also one of the best games with a horror theme ever made, period. They can exist side-by-side in a list dedicated to "Action Horror". If you want proper distinction between the two, the list would be more specific, e.g survival horror. "Action horror" is a very broad umbrella. Both games fall under it.

Facts. Castlevania in general reflects the nature of the Halloween season, which is festive, moreso than some grave, dark hallway simulator. I play one or two around this time every year, this time it will be the Haunted Castle remake and possibly Circle of the Moon.

Doom 3 was the most bland shooter I ever played. The Resident Evil games are the best at mixing horror and action.

Clearly you haven't played F.E.A.R.

Yes, so long as you keep to the the first game F.E.A.R. and its good expansion Extraction Point. The franchise falls off (steeply) beyond these.

The rest of the games in the series are dogshit compared to the original and its expansions.

You gave up on the best survival horror of all time after 10 minutes, you have no right to speak. Trailer trash got filtered, as to be expected.
