So... are dragons the new zombies? I somehow blame Daenerys.

say what you want but I'd play an alternate history game where the nazis conquered europe with dragons

The nazis don't get to win and they don't have that many dragons, though.

You can also select your elemental type from a choice of fire, ice, storm or earth, which affects your starting breath attack (flame, ice, lightning or boulder respectively), along with the spell types initially available to you.

I dream of a world were all those crappy developers trying to use elemental magic in their games would actually research enough to know lightning is related to Fire instead of Air. @_@

Or that general weather is related to Water instead of Air, since we are at it.

Molons.

Excellent. Long have I longed for a game that accurately simulates the physical properties of boulderbreath™

Probably I am mixing things up.

Yup. Think about it from a witch's viewpoint: Lightning is highly dynamic, highly volatile, extremely fast, short lived, very mobile, focused, direct, and totally unsubtle. It is almost too Fire for it's own good.

Earth is mostly seen as relating to quiescent, passive-agressive kind of things: Tradition, structures, constantness, rigidity, etc, with a touch of being nurturing while strict.

I'll spoiler the extended explanation for the innocent onlookers' sake.

Though no one writes archetypal characters anymore as they are kind of repetitive and boring, if we were to make a Otome role playing game the easiest to write full Earth (earth of earth) character would be a full tank with defensive buffs and auras, and maybe some healing, whose personality is that of the stoic, down-to-earth, patient badass who enjoys simple pleasures, has a clear sense of right and wrong, is built like a truck, and gives the best advice. The girls playing the game would love the character for being trustworthy and dependable and shit but he would still be the most friend zoned one.

Meanwhile, the simplest to write full Fire (fire of fire) character would be the full DPS fragile speedster with berserker rages and great mobility who charges screaming bloody murder while everyone's discussing the plan, is easily taunted, oozes innate talent while lacking both technique and true control, has a lean but muscular build, more like a tiger than a bear, and whose enthusiasm is very contagious. He will also be loud, lack in refined manners, will wear his emotions for everyone to see, will ignore all subtle things, and usually be kind of akward, if not a total moron, in everything unrelated to "conquer this challenge!", "beat that motherfucker who defeated me!" and the like. Your standard shounen MC, in other words, yet he will still be one of the most popular ones with the girls playing.

He will also be the de facto leader out of wild animal magnetism and rough charisma alone, yet the player would do best in never leaving the planning up to him.

Fiery leader has been overdone as hell, though. Consider Dan Marshall and his earthy bro. If you put Charlie in charge, you'd end u with a whiny protag who kept musing about the 'proper way' of doing things. Though without Dan, the whole team would lose some the 'fiery' ass kicking it projects.

Yeah and the Water character would be a bespectacled, calm, gentle guy amirite.

Wind will be the hyperactive shota.

Who's Heart?

When you talk about the elements and how they relate to magic (i.e. weather is water), are you talking about it from a traditional witchy pagan magic perspective, or are you starting from a scientific (somewhat) perspective?

No, fool, Wind or Air is patient but quick and avoiding of conflict. Water is not patient but alive and in tune with the environment.

I'm the witchy type of person, who can cast the sigils of the 72 high lords from memory but needs help with the most basic scientific questions and needs her fingers for even the most simple mathematical operations. I hate wiccans and most other neopagans, though.

Weather being related to water is one of the most obscure traditional correspondences, anyway, and even I do not understand the reasoning completely.

Yeah and the Water character would be a bespectacled, calm, gentle guy amirite.

Water is the only element that doesn't really counts as having one main archetype, given water's main quality is being formless, chaotic, emotional, and mutable. So you have the calm and gentle mystic with a serving of aloof who mostly uses support and healing magic, the emo and irresponsible artsy generalist character (think bard and most non pewpew sorcerers), and the fickle capricious double-crossing borderline sociopath who is one of the bad guys until he meets the heroine and decides that turning their previous allies into XP for love is the right thing to do. That last one is usually blond and wears glasses, since we are at it, and is the one who most often uses the really underhanded methods to win, as is the archetype most related to darkness, evil, and betrayal of them all. And girls LOVE HIS ABUSIVE TROUBLED ASS TO BITS.

Water is also the most common one for demented MWAHAHAHAHA villains, and you may notice they kind of fit with the three zodiacal signs related to water: Cancer, Pisces, and Scorpio in the order I described them.

Wind will be the hyperactive shota.

Actually, Air is kind of outside my expertise. I just can't really understand that bloody element, though it is usually described as the cold, intellectual, elegant, distant kind who cares the most for ideals and abstractions, and has little interest in the mundane. Which is probably why I can't understand the bloody thing, there is zero resonance between us.

Now, let's play a little game... Find the element!

Man, now I want to go back to my Jo.Yin.Bo LP. That game's so awesome. :(

And what was this thread about, again? @_@

I believe it's about some indie game, before someone discussed elements. But witch... Yeah, you keep at that. No such thing as magic. :shrugs:

Well that was... informative, as usual. I would've thought Air would be air-headed.

And given that said indie game has dragons spitting boulders, well...

I really want to, I just suck at finding the whole series, subtitled instead of dubbed, to torrent. :(

Dubbed? What language are the usual torrent versions of the cartoon dubbed in, Portuguese?

The show original language I believe to be English, and I suck at spoken english. It is dubbed into about every single language there is, but I dislike dubs because of my OCD tendencies (it's not the original xperience as the authors intended!) and I dislike subs into languages other than the original because of, well, my OCD tendencies (I'm not seeing the dialogue as the authors intended!) so I actually need to find it on english with subtitles on english.

Watching TV shows is always like that for me. @_@

I'm STILL trying to find Winx Club in Italian with subs in Italian, for example. T_T
