^ Good ideas. Magic The Gathering does some of that. They pretty much ruined it over the years though. I recommend trying Shandalar and Manalink 3.0.

I had an idea for an adventure game where the areas were based on phrenological zones. The mechanics I mixed in were inspired by Freudian psychoanalysis. The player would be solving a mystery, only to learn that they are actually a figment of someone's imagination. Essentially a thought. Once the PC becomes self aware, the game ends. It would be something like Psychonauts meets Sanitarium.

Cool idea. The biggest challenge is doing the reveal in a way that doesn't feel cheap. One would probably opt for the Jacob's Ladder approach of aggressive foreshadowing.
