I looked into 658 entries in hope of some nice surpise.

Yeah, I was a fool to expect such thing from IGF. :rpgcodex:

Anyway, here are RPGs I found. Some games will be very familiar to you.

Breath of the Dragon
Procedurally-generated tactical RPG starring the avatar from Ultima IV

Creator: Urthvas Williamson

Game Website: http://urthvas.tumblr.com

uKbbwtk.jpg

Description:
A procedurally-generated tactics RPG where your decisions matter more than in most games. We avoid crutches like ever-increasing hitpoints and attack power. As your characters level up, each new ability is a discrete new action, and these actions produce combinatoric results. This combinatoric power is how your party really gets stronger.

We work carefully to take Looking-Glass-style emergence, and a Binding of Issac-ish feeling of an ever-growing world full of tons of stuff, but we keep these things in a very crisp container. All actions are discrete, and there is no randomness in combat. Your characters have 4 hit points, even as they become very powerful! This crispness amplifies the importance of your decisions.

Conclave
Tabletop RPG inspired, browser-based single and co-op RPG

Creator: 10x10 Room

Game Website: http://www.playconclave.com/

GEc8BDG.jpg

Description:
Conclave is a tabletop-style browser RPG you can play solo or cooperatively in parties of up to four. When playing cooperatively, you can play at any pace from real time to a turn a day; the game shifts seamlessly between synchronous and asynchronous play depending on whether you and the other members of your party are online at the same time. Because the game's client requires only HTML5 & JavaScript, you can play from just about any web-enabled device, including PCs, tablets, and smartphones.

Like the tabletop RPGs that inspired it, Conclave is story-driven and includes an overarching campaign of interrelated adventures set in an original fantasy world. Each adventure is a mix of several turn-based combat encounters and party decision points. The combat takes place on unique battlemaps with traps and other special terrain, while the decision points alter upcoming combats or the course of the story itself. In both cases, your options are determined by how you've created and customized your character; you have five archetypes, five races, and hundreds of abilities and items to choose from.

Regardless of what you choose to do or not, the experience always moves forward, adapting seamlessly to YOU. Dive into a world with well over 120,000 words of back-story and lore, where everything you see and do relates to the story and characters, and everything is there for a reason...

I think there's no thread about dungeon dasher , or it was buried deep. According steam forums , it may be surprisingly good. Never heard of conclave before either, its a web based game although, wich means shit 99% of the time, will try still . I am not even looking at rpgmaker stuff .

Here is your anonymous judge feedback! The judges were instructed to keep it as constructive as possible; hopefully this provides some insight into how best to improve your game. If there's anything in here you want to use on your website for promotional purposes, you are more than welcome to. Just credit the quote as "2009 Independent Games Festival Judge":

Sure, this may be an RPG Maker game, but clever use of the engine for Quick Time Events,
and amazing writing make this a truly compelling, innovative game.

fuck yoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

These look really cool though, especially Breath of the Dragon and One Way Heroics. I'll definitely keep my eye on all these games. Thanks for posting this topic.

Dungeon Dashers looks good. I've seen a french game journalist trying the early access on his lunch break. I'll wait for the online coop to work smoothly then I'll buy a pair of copy for my bro-op buddy and I.

I played a couple of quests in Conclave some time ago, was rather fun. Like CYOA book with tactical combat. I'm not sure it can be singled though - i.e. technically it's possible, but the battles are balanced towards having a party. At one point I had two different browsers running in parallel so that I could have two characters.
