So there are quite a few people here in this thread who know a lot about immersive sims and how their systems work... is there anyone here who knows how Human Revolution and Mankind Divided works?
I played both on launch, why?
Do you know how the stealth system works in depth?
basically MGS1 with cones of vision, there's an aug that lets you see them. I don't think there's a Thief-style light/dark system or anything like that

Regardless of gaslighting attempts, "immersive sim" is a retarded term that is entirely concocted by modern faggots and muh Doritos market trying to sell shitslop by bandwagoning on good games of the past. It describes precisely nothing. It's worthless as a category. No one used it back in the day, even if some cunt scrounges up an obscure single reference from a retarded magazine. It's the very definition of astroturfed "how do you do fellow kids". The fact that it's been adopted at the Codex is yet another indelible sign of the decline.
The problem is they try to link "immersive" and "sim" and apply it to too many games all at once, which ends in having some very ham-fisted results. Simulation on its own is a very spacious category. Adding another category means reducing the number of games such combination would be applicable to. For example: "Immersive sim" could suit something like a flying simulator, but does not suit an immersive FPS such as Crysis (because it's not a simulation). ARMA is also an immersive FPS, but is also a simulation.

Okay, one more time but shorter. Survival games and rpg/survival games like The Forest and Outward emphasis immersion by modelling low level basic human needs. They simulate hunger, thirst, weapon durability, poison like Ultima Underworld. Outworld even implements food parasites from dirty water, infection from wild animal bites, food getting spoiled with time and getting a cold. They implement system where you can utilize items in systemic creative ways. In Outward you can learn rune magic to conjure up a light sphere instead of having to have a torch or lantern, a fire infusion on your weapon will also act as a light source and as a heat source, as does a campfire. Weight of items and backpack matters like in Ultima Underworld. In an effort to make the world more believable and portraying a normal human not a chosen one.

BoTW is even more into systemic game design with grass fires and wind being systems you can use to your advantage. In The Forest you can chop down any tree you want and craft your base. If you get injured you have to physical inspect your bodyparts for damage, that's immsersive.

Personally I also found Cyberpunk 2077 to be very immersive with it's constant first person perspective even in cutscenes and freedom of movement. The world itself is detailed enough to allow great immersion. And also mods can add a lot to both Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of needs and survival aspects.

It looks like we will get a small revival of the genre cause the boomershooters market is saturated and this means that some indie devs are forced to come up with something new or branch into other genres.

Blood West seems interesting but Hunt Showdown takes the cake on western supernatural immersive sims, even with multiplayer.

I don't know how it compares to Hunt: Showdown but Blood West is really good. Solid recommandation from me.

Yeah, I'm playing it right now and it is really fun. Stealth gameplay is a bit basic but still serviceable enough. Atmosphere is top notch and there are lots of exploring to do.

I found this system shock inspired one which has character development, inventory tetris, and psionic abilities when browsing recently released demos on steam.
