It seems like the game has a lot of bugs, some also game breaking and as you can only manually save by doing a campfire which uses up resources it can be quite frustrating.
The game does look promising, so I will give it some time before I get it (or if it is on sale).

As it had a 25% discount I did give it a spin, but decided to refund it after 55 minutes.

Funnily enough when I started it for another spin, the playtime didn't update so I made a backup and spent a good 10 hours on it.

I really like it, but it is to early access, there is bugs, systems don't work or work the opposite way they should work. Some skills/traits do nothing or the opposite, like instead of lessening the effect of the cold it increases its effect and so on.

The main reason why I refunded was, the game seems to have sold so far very poorly and I wonder at what point they will or have to give up if no money is coming in. Also there is no road map.

The game is really promising, I like the loop of gathering resources, better weapons, bigger backpacks, more/better cloths to fight the cold, bringing resources back to your mobile base, building new tents for the survivors you found, researching new things, building "industry" (woodcutters, scavengers, hunters ...), leveling up your characters, finding ammunition (which is rare as fuck), finding stuff to eat, finding stuff to burn so you don't freeze to death. There is a lot going on and I like it all.

Also they added an "explorer mode" which auto-saves before every event and let you manually save. I rather would play it in hardcore, but thanks to bugs that would be insanity.

The writing/setting is better than what I thought it would be. It is believable and I haven't found any signs of wokeness.

Currently it has a mixed rating and unfortunately it deserves this.
To bad they didn't polish the game more before they started it into early access.

Just came across this event and I thought it would make an good example for the writing.

Decent writing imo + pretty funny outcome.

Although I have to say that's a bullshit decision with no reasonable choice. I would've at least added the option to question the mothers further or just threaten to cut the baby in half.

Still funny tho.

Yep, I thought so as well, so I took the one I thought was the most fun.

To put it more into perspective, the player is considered a Prophet (which is just a lie, so people would follow you). So I kinda guess, that the bullshit decisions are on purpose, so you can show that you truly are a Prophet (or not). In some events you can tell the people right away that this situation is a waste of your time, which actually gives you the best outcome (increase faith and a point in being a Prophet). Or you can punish a random person by shooting them in the head (lose in faith and point in Survivor).

As a bonus, here the outcome if you pick the "correct" choice

As the events are randomized I wasn't curious enough to reload the game till I got this event again to see what would happen if you pick the wrong woman.

So "it doesn't work here", but... it does?
Well, your followers lose faith in you and also you get a point as a "Survivor". I do not know what the later means, but you always get points in it if you do something cruel/insane. For reference look on the picture above, if you do the "right" thing, you gain a point as "Prophet" and also your followers faith in you increase.

Sounds intriguing
If it wasn't for the bugs and the uncertainty if they will fix them I would whole heartily recommend this game.

As far as I found out they have received funds from the EU (source bottom left), also they get funds in form of investments on tecra.space (never heard of it before, link) so money, might not be a big issue, for now. But if you check them on steam they have only released two other games so far, that have not attracted a lot of players.

I really think this could become an really good game, if they give it the proper polish!

If you have any questions about how things work in detail, ask away.

Early Access Patch Notes #4: Final Event, Base Upgrades & Strategic Survival

CARAVAN BASE
Managing a group of survivors after the collapse is a tough challenge, but with the new features in this patch, you can spend days expanding your base – your safe haven. Build a mobile mini-town, becoming an independent entity, where, as the leader (Prophet), you decide who deserves to stay safe within your walls and who must be banished from the base.
The Medical Care and Medical Supplies system has been reworked. Now players can donate medical consumables to gain Medical Supplies. Medical Care value can only be increased by specific structure, currently the Infirmaries.
Redesigned rations panel for followers management.
Sick and medical supply management system.
Now players can assign workers to Infirmary structures that will boost Medical Care value.
New upgrade options for all production structures, infirmaries, and workshops.
Followers banishment system (remove followers from your base/caravan).
New crafting components.

BATTLE
Molotov cocktail - a new craftable weapon. Surprise your enemies with fire!
Molotov cocktail research project has been added to the munitions research tree.
Ability Targeting system has been added. You can now choose whether to target yourself or your companions while using consumable class items during battle.
Redesigned Stress Points allocation mechanic.

INVENTORY
You can now select multiple items and move them between windows or characters. No more tedious single clicks, try out the Ctrl feature!

CAMPING IN HOUSES
The player can now camp during scavenging in households, but beware! Even if you don’t use camping supplies, there's always a risk of ambush after camping in a building. Choose wisely and manage your resources and risks when deciding where to sleep.

STORYLINE
Main story markers (exclamation points) have appeared on the World Map. These are not required to complete Early Access, but the knowledge gained will help you better understand the circumstances of your battles and the world around you, preparing you for the final showdown.

FINAL EVENT
This event concludes the Early Access story, revealing your main enemy and testing whether you're ready to dive deeper into the world of Interregnum. Take on the challenge, gather resources and companions, and prepare for the ultimate battle before continuing your journey through the post-apocalyptic frozen California.
Will you fulfill your role as the Prophet and lead your followers to the promised land?

GENERAL
We've implemented further optimizations and fixes, including AI improvements in battles and on the World Map, as well as bug fixes, including those on battle maps.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support!
