Effin negrodancer is stronk, suddenly I regret not splurging on better armour ('hoho i'm sure i'm gonna find something better in the world anyway').

Also the jinn crisis really makes you feel like you fucked up. Other games wouldn't have the balls to make your life difficult in the same way.

I only explored the third island as of yet but I have to say that the game has it's own unique charm. Graphics are splendid, you see that everything is crafted with much care. Especially the cities are beautiful. I love the fact that it offers open air-exploration with different heights, something that's especially spectacular in cities. I also like that while exploring you get to points from where you can see other places you've been. And I really like that ships don't just beam you from one point to another in the gameworld but actually transport you there. Exploration is fun, new paths open gradually - and weapons and items help to access formerly unaccessible places. Like a crazy maniac you can mow down whole woods and break stone with your hammer. I love it. I also like that the game isn't hardcore - there are always more critters spawned if you're in dire need of money, always new plants growing etc. It's a very comfy RPG-experience. I'd also say it's the most M&M-like experience I ever played (even though it has real time combat and no party).

... fuck. I hit a gamebreaking bug/state.

I died to the skellymens in the necromancer's tower and instinctively hit enter instead of reloading, which kicked me out to the shore of the island. But now my path to the ruby key and the top floor is barred because the lever that opened it closed what was supposed to be the way out.

sigh

EDIT: Nvm I managed to get around it with save file edition cuz i'm a 1337 haxx0r

jinn quest spoilers

After killing the necromancer and rushing to mt Naar to trap the jinn because it's day 30 of ramadan, turns out I still can't trap him despite having kept my fasts and prayers. Do I also have to find the kaaba first? And then wait a year for this fucker to be vulnerable again? FFS

I also wish there was a better way of advancing time in this effin game because I just had to rest a bazillion times to move 30 days forward.

On Minhaaj Island (northernmost one, where the people are looking for a new source of iron), how the hell do you get to the northwestern half of the caldera? Do you need to go to some other island and find a completely different way there? I've been to everywhere in the accessable area (city plus southeast part of caldera), and there are no ways to the far side of the lake.

Thanks for being oh so useful, may Allah repay it a hundred thousand times next time you're asking for help with a game.

But seriously, I'm stuck on the main mission, which will not progress until I find a new source of iron ore. Is the iron on the same island, or somewhere completely different?

I haven't yet gone through that quest but the stuff behind the river there is not related to it.

The only iron deposits I've seen anywhere in the game are

on Asad island

I couldn’t resist it, I bought it and am on the second island.

For those that haven’t played it, the default controls are kinda crap. They are keyboard only - great - but require you to keep your hands on the left and right segments of the keyboard (typist) and the arrow keys.

Nonsense!

Remap WASD to be strafe movement, make Q/E the turn left/right keys, and quests to J / attack to F and the game’s keyboard-centric layout makes a lot more sense.

I have forward/backward/turning on arrows, strafing on Z/C, attack on E

Huh, I finished the main quest, but it seems like I missed a shitton of content at least judging by the key ring:

I know I lack the tin key for opening some doors on Minhaj, and I also remember a brass key required somewhere, but I have virtually no idea where I could have missed any quests for those.

Edit: Okay, it seems some of these are easter eggs of sorts.

The brass key is needed on Minhaj actually, tin is needed on Iman.

I went on a digging spree through Minhaj and actually dug up the tin key in some completely random place. This opened a door on Iman that led me to a veeeery deep basement... with a guy called 'Faulaan the Barrel Man', surrounded by barrels, who complains that he has to keep replacing them everywhere because some asshole keeps wrecking them
